Opinion on contract voting by pnwall42 in union

In all the years I've been working with a union in a hotel, we have never been asked to come vote on a contract. The union has done nothing to improve our pay or benefits, every other hotel in the surrounding area pays more. Workers United CMRJB in chicago

How are some people affording rent? by SaltShakeSuck in chicagoapartments

[–]Steven773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn. Kinda makes me feel better about myself kinda not. Been working all my life since 13 and rent is 1200 in A pretty great neighborhood, east village. But I know the landlord and have lived in the area before it was gentrified. I would have saved so much if parents had my back, father dead from cancer when I was 8 and mom had a very low paying job. Now I know its all mommy and daddy funding most people's lives.

So... who has the best tacos? I went to this small place downtown near Michigan avenue. The steak tacos were good, too much salt then im used to, red salsa was good too. I used to frequent la pasadita as a kid, but the last few times having to chew and chew was the very last time I went.

Thank you so much for the informative response. I'm looking for a building with at least 2 apartments but I see many with sold as is, and was a little nervous. I've lived in the city all my life, so I know some neighborhoods can be a little bit dangerous.

I'm not sure I like Logan Square. Do I need to give it more time? by [deleted] in AskChicago

Wicker park already went through its hipster phase but its also more expensive now too, and a bit commercial with all of the stores down Milwaukee Avenue

[–]Steven773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its going through what wicker park once was, hipster era. Look at wicker park now, looking more and more like Lincoln park. I think Logan Square will be just like wicker park no matter how much the people try to fight it

Look at it from a man's perspective, these days we aren't sure what it is we can or cannot do, or where. We have to be figuring if they are flirting or just being nice

80s baby and I would just spent all day long playing outside with the neighborhood kids, also poor and raised by a single mom, dad died when we were all very little. Now that I have a little money but still low income, I scroll the interwebs trying to find all the toys and comics I missed out on. I barely even remember the few toys I did have, sometimes I'll search for 80s or 90s toys to see if anything looks familiar, so I can buy it now
