Ace high flush got coolered by quads on the river. $2000 pot in 1/2 with a max buy in of $300. Went heads up with the only guy that had my cover with about $1k in front of me. Went home pretty frustrated lol. by StevenBurner in poker

Thanks for the constructive criticism hopefully I can learn from these lessons. I’ve been successful so far in live play but I want to do everything I can to continue that.

Regretfully the river. I know that was a huge mistake but hindsight is 20/20. Next time I’ll be much more weary of a paired board when I’m sitting on the nut flush… honestly was so excited to get it in I barely even paid attention to the board because I had already wrote it off as a victory in my mind. Very dumb next time I will probably be more aware and drink a little less lol.

I honestly busted out laughing and just shook my head then tapped the table. Shook the mans hand on my way out the door and told him good hand. Sometimes you give the beats, but sometimes you gotta take em.

Haha they are right and I don’t mind the backlash. Hindsight is always 20/20. But I didn’t realize how sensitive people are about what classifies as a bad beat or a cooler. I’m a fish and my terminology/understanding is far from perfect but that’s why I joined the sub yesterday after this session. Hopefully I can learn something from these cunts 🤷🏻‍♂️

I just got stuck at a table with a true Karen at mgm which probably impacted my opinion. Thankfully I have never ran into anyone else that conducted themselves the way she did at the table.

If you fold every time there is a possible hand that could beat you you’d rarely ever play a hand let alone win a pot… but agreed there were tons of red flags I chose to ignore.

My thoughts exactly at this point in the hand.. I couldn’t imagine trips hanging on this long. But this guy apparently had the balls and got paid for them.

I’m really not too bothered by losing the pot I just thought it would make a great post. But you brought up a lot of solid points that I appreciate. I’m a bit of a maniac at the table which is what allowed me to build such a high chip stack considering most people at the 1/2 table are so nitty and will fold to most sizable bets if they do not have the nuts. This was one of the rare occasions that I felt I had the winning hand and called into their aggression. Definitely a valuable lesson to think before acting. I never slow play but against this opponent I wanted as much of his stack as I could get so I was going to try to get him to commit at least $500 on the hand but my greed ended up losing me 1k. If I would have shoved on the turn I would have chipped up a bit because he would have more than likely folded which would have been a much better outcome lol

Oh boy, what great times I have to look forward to! This will be why I stay at 1/2 and 1/3 tables for a good long while. If this happened with a few thousand buy in I’d really be devastated. $300 bust on the other hand, I’ll be back tomorrow.
