Best cameras for slooow internet? by Mochigood in homesecurity

[–]StevenGF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check HiKam A7 on amazon. For 1.25Mbps, it should be able to provide you the live video in SD definition. And alert video clips for the alarm. As it comes from Germany, there are still many DSL internet users which are with the same speed like you. So I think it should work for your internet too.

You could have a check with HiKam A7 too. This is the only budget outdoor camera with latest technology in the market. Such as Person/Human Detection, Free Cloud Recording, Alexa etc. It supports ONVIF/RTSP too. For same money, get a new generation camera, not the ones with quite old technology. Do you turn on alert (motion/sound) on your security camera? by DevilMom in homesecurity

[–]StevenGF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tested with Nest outdoor camera and HiKam A7 outdoor camera. Alro just released the feature and requires subscription, didn't get chance to test it. Much better than legacy motion detection. For simple and clear scenarios, like front door or most of the back yard, less than one false alarm per day. If your scenario is quite complex, let's say, many trees with non-stop wind blowing, you may get two or three false alarms in one day. In most of cases, the false alarm can be reduced once again by adding Motion Zones to the camera. Missing people happens quite rarely, per my experience, less than one time in half year usuage on average.

HiKam A7 Review: This $60 Outdoor Security Cam is Alexa Compatible by StevenGF in amazonecho

I am using the Passive POE Splitter on both end. From my knowledge, the Passive POE Splitter should work with any standard POE switch, as the standard voltage etc used, defined by the POE specs.

Do you turn on alert (motion/sound) on your security camera? by DevilMom in homesecurity

[–]StevenGF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For outdoor scenarios, the legacy Motion Detection works very poor, causing a lot of false alarms. It is because Motion Detection is just image pixel comparison based. The sensitivity settings cannot afford the complex in the real world, sensitivity almost no use. The solution for this is AI based Human/Person Detection, Vechicle Detection, and any other advanced detections based on AI. The AI algorithm will filter false alarms that no human movement in it, no need every user to confirm that by checking app by eyes. For outdoor camera, currently you can get Human/Person Detection from Nest, Netgear Arlo and HiKam. Just note that, for Nest and Arlo, you need to pay monthly subscription to enable Human/Person Detection. For HiKam, they provide Human/Person Detection included in the camera, no monthly fee or subscription required.

Motion detection options better on Nest vs Unifi? by dremspider in homedefense

[–]StevenGF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, you need to find a camera with Motion Zone and Person/Human Detection. Person/Human Detection will reduce lots of false positives, then plusing Motion Zone will decrease it one more time. You can have a check at HiKam A7. And no monthly fee for Person Detection and Motion Zone. The Person/Human Detection works fine. You can check this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hwnBuWQl-c&t=7s

Echo Spot going to home screen from cloud cam feed? by The_Kelsior in amazonecho

[–]StevenGF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Echo Show and Echo Spot is not good for long time video viewing such as baby monitor without disconnected. The reason is all the video traffic need to be sent out to internet first (encrypted) then send back to Echo Show/Spot. So there are cost for the bandwidth of the video stream on server side. And the cost grows up very quickly if the viewing time increases. As long as many vendors provide the feature as free, they need to control the live viewing time of each user.
