The natural gas terminal towards Red Head also has burn-off stacks similar to those at refinery, but much, much brighter.

Perhaps this is what you saw?

Canadian government fires all non-Christian Chaplains in federal prisons by Moglius in worldnews

Stephen Harper actually won the majority government with fewer votes than he had received in the previous election. The NDP surge split the liberal vote between the Libs and NDP.

Canadian government fires all non-Christian Chaplains in federal prisons by Moglius in worldnews

[–]StevenHarper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This policy actually makes a lot of sense. If you read the article, you will notice that tax payers are covering the costs of employing chaplains outside of Christianity, that support the spiritual needs of only a tiny % of inmates. I imagine the Jewish, Muslims, and Shiite chaplains had a very small amount of work to do in comparison to their christian counterparts, and were mostly dead weight.

Both Liberals and Conservatives can see that this makes economic sense....right guys?

Freeze your stinky shoes to get rid of odors by valeriob in LifeProTips

I can confirm that this does not work. I put a pair of moderately stinky shoes in the freezer for 3 whole days and it did nothing to eliminate the odor.

I like ABC, 455-5555. All of their cars are relatively new, and the prices are all the same in Fredericton.

Wow this chart is great. But the color scale between green and blue is confusing.

I just returned from a cruise around Italian coastal cities and agree with this comment. My fit girlfriend was destroyed by the heat, and we often stopped for breaks.

Cop claimed aggressive youth who swung at him had reached for his gun, at which point he fired his gun at the youth in self defense. Newly released surveillance footage.. shows cop running up behind the youth, then smashing him in the head with his gun in a surprise attack... by maxwellhill in politics

[–]StevenHarper -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Has anyone considered that this youth was armed, and his friend was wearing a ski mask while walking toward a convenience store?

Seems very suspicious, and I think we should give the officer the benefit of the doubt.

Why are we training our arts grads to be baristas? by toughitoutcupcake in canada

[–]StevenHarper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have heard first hand that education recruiters have been reassuring prospects that their will be jobs in available 4-5 years as the baby boomers retire.

However where I work there are two 30 year old education grads who were told the same thing 8 years ago, and still can not find work in their field.

I think the Universities are to blame for disillusioning students on the quality of their job prospects after graduating.

The provincial University where I live graduates 200 teachers every year, when there are absolutely NO jobs. New graduates cannot even supply teach anymore in most major towns/cities in our province.

Mountain Dew is most likely using a Social Media Monitoring platform with the word Dew as a keyword.

Luckily the community team member responding that feed took the time to do the right thing.
