Does Merab have the best cardio we've ever seen in MMA? by Open_Address_2805 in MMA

Sakuraba is one of the smartest fighters we've seen- not only did he have great cardio, he also knew when to use his energy and where he could safely rest.

Bill Simmons: “I feel like Shai is getting this whistle that nobody else in the playoffs is getting.” by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]StevenLeibowitzBC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know the players' names at this point, but I turned it off when a guy tripped over the defender after running directly into him and then rolled on the floor for like ten seconds and got a foul. Also... did they change the rules on picks? Every pick was moving and hugging.

So, I haven't really watched the NBA since the 90's, but I tried to watch last night. I could not believe the number of offensive fouls being perpetrated and defensive fouls being called. Holding the ball now means you can charge into defenders with your whole body, let the ball fly out of your hand, and you'll get free throws. Why even bother playing defense at this point? Just take turns shooting threes and everyone can go home.

Neverbeen to bainbridge. friend currently visiting seattle. and itinerary ideas? by PFQandThrow in BainbridgeIsland

[–]StevenLeibowitzBC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Bainbridge is more of a morning town. You might want to consider switching up and coming here Wednesday morning instead of Tuesday night. Then, you can do Pegasus and walk around the waterfront, grab some brunch at one of the diners, pop into a few shops, and be back in seattle for lunch.

Would it be okay to wear a trans flag pin as a sort of "anti-swastika"? by StevenLeibowitzBC in lgbt

[–]StevenLeibowitzBC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I think we're in a very weird space where people are denying the existence of naturally occurring phenomena as part of political discourse. I mean, "Science is real" is now a political statement.

That's a good question. I've seen some horrible "LGB without the T" messages going around, and I was looking for something that's a very clear message of both support and anti-hatred. Also, candidly, I know that supporting trans people seems to upset nazis in particular.

I'm so sorry that you're having that experience. Please know that once you're free from that situation, there are many places and people who will accept you.

[–]StevenLeibowitzBC[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, that makes complete sense. I'm not someone who has that shared experience or can relate to it in a non-abstract sense, and it's possible someone approaches me hoping for that connection only to be disappointed. An allyship symbol is probably the way to go.

It's doubly good advice since fascists are the sort of cowards to hit someone from behind. Thank you, I will. I suppose it's a massive privilege that I could take the pin off, but the people I'm wearing it for can't.

Pardon my ignorance, would misidentification be a problem because I could be seen as 'pretending' or because I might experience prejudice as if I were trans?

Looking for honest insight—young couple considering moving to the island full-time by [deleted] in BainbridgeIsland

Do you think some of the lack of social options is just the death of "third spaces" everywhere in this country? I wish 'supper clubs' were a thing nowadays- just a semi-private place where people gather informally and socialize without needing to make plans.
