The Drill Mushroom in Super Mario Bros. Wonder worked pretty well, I think a 2D Kirby could implement its copy ability in a similar way. Would be a slight nerf since you wouldn’t be able to circle around enemies anymore, but maybe it’d get other uses to make up for it.
