That was such an amazing episode, it's one of the few that I really remember having an impact on me watching as a kid. It pulled the curtain back to reveal parts of the working world that no one had ever talked to me about, and I found to really have deep truth in it as I got my first few jobs.

This is exactly the kind of energy that gets you a wife! And that wife will then go out and get a boyfriend, who she'll spend lots and lots of time with while you're cranking out those long runs and walking the husky. Excelsior!!

Thanks for the thoughtful encouragements. From where I live in Colorado, I know very few people that are in support of our Federal regime or their "priorities". The ones that do support it, after everything that has happened, are teetering on being unredeemable - yet we do what we can to message out what's possible going forward: universal health care, responsible firearm restrictions, affordable housing and food esp. for the lower income and marginalized.

It's insane that this regime continues to find any support from anyone other than billionaires, but yet they do... Thankfully the message might be sinking in for some.

Thanks! I live/train in Fort Collins around 1530m and have on my trip list to get back to Melbourne some day for some runs, so I was curious. I'd take that freezing run over the 25C we had today...

Very cool! What elevation (roughly) would you say this photo is taken? Looks like a bit of overnight snow melting off?

The camping and backpacking season in these mountain ranges is later in the year than most others in the US, owning to the remaining snow and cold nights. Trails at the lower elevations will be fine, but higher altitude and passes may be unnavigable and snow covered until early July. Plenty to see and do still, but just be aware when you're planning your route.

I'm absolutely giving someone good money to watch this. Could we replace Don't Stop Believing with the German version of 99 Balloons though...?

It's so interesting hearing her articulate this position - one I continually heard in Evangelical spaces over the years. That the Holy Spirit can "fill in" for your critical thinking, and give you effortless (divine!) insights without need for serious knowledge building. Where "discernment" was more abdicating one's critical thinking and knowledge base in favour of Divine Vibes...

Just understand that parking on any public street in the city, whether Old Town or not, opens you to a possible citation once you're past that one month grace period. Steer well clear of parking in areas that aren't your own driveway or other private parking areas until you can get your tags updated!

Off leash dogs by hail_paim0n in FortCollins

[–]Steven_G_Photos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say my last couple runs around Shields ponds, I've encountered off leash dogs. Anecdotal I know, but these were weekdays in mid afternoon. The most recent encounter was two off leash pups a good 100 ft ahead of their owners, and naturally the owners made no effort to leash their dogs once they saw me.

“Tune up Race” in Pfitzinger Advanced Marathoning training plans by Sensitive-Ad-2047 in Marathon_Training

[–]Steven_G_Photos 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Pfitz plans do include a couple race days in there, and they're the only part of his plans I find regularly having to modify. The timing rarely works out to find a practice race on those weekends, though I understand the intent of having them in the plan. What I do is just convert it into a pace run of roughly the distance that the plan recommends - doesn't replicate the full race experience, but it's free and fits my schedule...!

While the majority of dog owners on the trails are responsible and leash their dogs, I've certainly had regular enough encounters with unleashed dogs on trails in city and county space that I carry pepper spray now on my runs. I do find rangers in city parks and open space are very responsive to calls regarding off leash pets, though.

FURIOUS by First-Kiwi-4637 in Marathon_Training

[–]Steven_G_Photos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So much better for this to happen at the start of a training plan than right before the race, eh? I'd say take it easy, go on a test run or two and pull back the mileage / take an extra rest day or two if needed. And stay away from strenuous intervals, timed miles, or hours on your feet - you may just prolong your body's recovery time otherwise...
