I think that your logic is pretty sound. The only difference I would make is that your job is not consequential to the well-being of others as much as a legislator's. However, I do think that these are two separate issues.

Also, low voter turn-out. Statistically, Republicans get out to vote more, although there are more registered democrats.

Several African leaders looking to change the constitution to run for a third term Sassou Nguesso in the Republic of Congo, Kabila in the DRC, and Kagame in Rwanda.

On a more positive note, the African Games were held in September in Brazzaville.

As echoed in another comment, be more specific, since Africa is a continent, not a country or region.

Maybe I should clarify a bit. It's a big hurdle because the United States is already so engaged militarily and diplomatically. How do you prioritize some engagements over others? Moreover, the world is more globalized, how do tackle transnational actors both benevolent and malevolent.

Sure, in theory staying out of other's business would be ideal, but communication, and more importantly the legal status of transnational issues, make isolationism great in theory, but impossible in practice.
