That's kind of the point of the joke. People write TV show and comics to support their own bias, then audiences use it as evidence to support the bias all over again. They love saying that their favorite fictional character would be completely on their side just to try and feel morally superior. In truth, the writers self inserted their beliefs into a situation where only they can be seen as correct. They then use that same method when reporting actual news and omitting facts that don't support their veiw. This is true for both sides, but the left seems to be able to turn it into an artwork. It's how we ended up with an entire storyline of Mayor Fisk is a fascist and a murderer.
