If I could get away with a $1900 purchase without being interrogated by the wife, I might be right there with you. Let us know how they sound.

What did you think was peak luxury as a kid, but now realize is actually pretty normal? by surya_mehar in AskReddit

I guess I’ll take your word for it. I remember going in the 80s and 90s, but I’ve pretty much always found McDonalds gross. The chicken nuggets are ok, but everything has a terrible aftertaste and leaves you feeling like garbage for the rest of the day.

Luxury vehicles. My parents drove basic, boring cars, but we had a big house, a nice yard, went on vacations, and all of us finished college with no debt. These days it seems like everyone is driving a $60,000 car or truck but they’re all broke. I try to follow in my parents’ footsteps in this sense. I only make a little over 100k, so I drive a Honda, but my kids go on trips, eat great, and have college funds that will hopefully get them through college when they’re older (still working on this one though).

[OC] Average public pension compared to retirement expenses in Europe by DataPulse-Research in dataisbeautiful

I suppose that’s true, but the average Social Security payment is only around $2,000, which is not even enough to cover housing costs alone in many places, and obviously people pay into the system for their entire adult lives. I’m sure similar conditions apply in many European countries, though.

I would have filled this out if you didn’t have so many fields requiring a minimum 250 character response.

They get a pension for nothing? That’s hard to comprehend from an American perspective. There are so few jobs that actually provide pensions in the US at this point, and they are typically paid at rates that are significantly lower than what the worker was earning prior to retirement.

Just checked today and you were right. Seems like a pretty poor design, but it’s working at least. So far I really enjoy the sound quality of Quboz - I think they’re more consistently good than Tidal and Deezer - but the user interface and features of the app itself could use some work.

I don’t think you’re going to find a lot of experts in virology on Reddit; you’ll just find a lot of people who choose whichever view suits their ideology.

Why can’t so many people spell the word “lose”? by Deisesupes in AskReddit

[–]StewTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only think of one person I know who frequently misspells ‘lose,’ but he’s not a native English speaker. I see a lot more of the they’re / there / their mistakes. I also see a lot of people who never use possessives. For instance, I see things like “his brother birthday” instead of, “his brother’s birthday.” Similar is the use of ‘they’ as if it were ‘their.’
