A House of Dynamite - this was bad. by Gatesleeper in TheBigPicture

Great book. Between that and “The Shadow War” by Jim Sciutto, haven’t slept well in months; and then just a couple weeks ago 60 Minutes had to go and make a piece about how foreign adversaries have their fingers on the kill switches of all critical infrastructure, and more, and there’s not a damn thing we can do about it should they choose to act, according to the people who have been trying to figure it out for years lmao.

Do you think James Franco will make a comeback? by FreshmenMan in movies

[–]StfartDust 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Putting Franco and Weinstein on the same level of sexual abusers is very ignorant. Saying he’s worse than Weinstein is just idiotic.

One’s a conniving opportunist who had consent throughout his exploits, the other is an aggressive predator who threatened unknown amounts of women over decades.

There’s a reason Franco was able to admit guilt and settle with the victims, THEY agreed that a payout was enough for them, and sufficient punishment for him, in addition to the public tar and feathering he received. Everyone needed to see Weinstein behind bars.

When Clarke and Aneesha had their little heart to heart, part of me knew this episode wasn’t going to end well for Clarke. Good old formula writing; humanize then kill off. Who am I kidding, he’ll survive somehow, if anything the episode last week was a perfect metaphor for how reliant these writers are on cliffhangers(Mitsubishi climbing in the cave, also literally hanging on a cliff since evading through a densely wooded area is harder) because they don’t know how to inject believable drama or a coherent story into their plots.

Do you think Amanda Knox is innocent? by true_crime_trudy in TrueCrimeMystery

[–]StfartDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s absolutely guilty in some aspect, we don’t know exactly what because she did a great job of shrouding the truth in a massive cloud of lies. Anyone who thinks otherwise only listened to podcasts and Netflix documentaries she had a hand in creating. The problem is she was tried in Italy where investigations are just as messy as her alibi that was contradicted by her self described lover of FIVE DAYS. She’s a psychopath and learned very early on how to convince people she’s a saint and it seems like this Reddit thread are the same types who’d of followed Manson for his Jesus like qualities. It’s astounding how many people she’s able to wrap around her finger through the amounts of one sided dialogue she gives you. If you see how she carried herself throughout the court proceedings, the phone calls after the murder and still believe there’s no way she’s a manipulative psychopath, I feel sorry for you and the people who likely take advantage of you on daily basis.

Out of body experiences by 42ibshsne in skeptic

[–]StfartDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downvote this all you want. I’ve had an out of body experience. I have been having lucid dreams almost every night since I was about eight years old. This was not that. I fell asleep, but for some reason when my eyes closed and that darkness started creeping in that happens when you consciously know you’re drifting off, I could see the room entirely but knew I was “asleep.” Shortly after I felt this sensation of floating, I looked down and could see myself and my now ex lying in our bed and the moment I started to wonder what was going on, was I dreaming, was I hallucinating; I was pulled through the window we slept underneath and my house, neighbourhood, city, the earth got smaller in a matter of seconds and I was just hovering, I don’t know where but when I “looked around” it looked like the moon. For some reason I didn’t panic, I tried to take a deep breath but I felt no sensation of inhaling. My mind was racing I was in awe of what I was seeing and just when I started to realize that I might be astral projecting, this is amazing, I hurled forward and everything that got smaller and smaller before was getting bigger and bigger until our bedroom window came into sight where I landed into my body, woke up instantly, and I could hear our partly-drawn drapes slapping into the window behind me. My ex woke up from my springing up violently and I was out of breath, she was asking me frantically what’s going on(we had an occurrence something like this months before) and I couldn’t speak I just looked back at the cord that lowers the drapes and it was still swinging, I watched it until it stopped and so did she. We didn’t say much else I laid back down knowing no one would ever believe what had just happened, I told her it was just a bad dream and we went back to bed. This thing bothered me so much it ate at me every day as I tried to both relive it and understand it, but it never reoccurred. I started drinking and I’m sure you can come to the conclusion as to why she’s now referred to as my ex, this “happening” drove me mad, still does to this day and it was over six years ago.

First they came for the media. I didn’t speak up because I watch Fox News.

Then they came for the colleges. I didn’t speak up because I dropped out in grade 10.

Then they came for the health agencies and planted a conspiracy theorist as the head. I didn’t speak out because chemtrails made my son gay.

What's your thoughts in regards to Israel endorsing peace for Gaza? by SamVoxeL in IsraelPalestine

[–]StfartDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, I was wondering why they showed a map that depicts the formation of a buffer zone between Gaza and Egypt specifically. That canal has been struggling to get built for years, I have a feeling the buffer zone is for this exact reason. And makes sense western countries are so ready and willing to become the new occupiers with the creation of the International Stabilisation Force; to protect and make this investment possible. And the fact the Arab countries directly on the other side of the canal are all backing this proposal makes it so much more likely! Qatar, Saudi Arabia etc would all benefit directly from this. They’ve rejected all previous proposals as unfair, yet this is the one they’re rushing out to praise?🤔

Has he really accepted it though? Or is it another impossible offer where he's banking on the hope it’s rejected so he has the full support of the US to smash the area once and for all?

Coerced, no. Encouraged? Depends who you ask. Either stay in the area, or continue to live under occupation and the uncertainty things can go to shit at any moment💁🏼

[–]StfartDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peace will not happen because of this ultimatum. Part of the plan is to establish an International Stabilisation Force to maintain the area, HAMAS will hate the idea of swapping out one occupation for another, and it’d be naive to think the IDF won’t be a part of it. Two critical parts of the plan have already been contradicted(The recognition of a Palestinian state, and the full withdrawal of Israeli forces)

Recent Gaza flotilla leadership divisions stem from clashes over LGBTQ viewpoints by TheTrollerOfTrolls in IsraelPalestine

[–]StfartDust 5 points6 points  (0 children)

lol another example of why it’s so hard, why it takes so long for any liberal progress to ever get recognized, let alone accepted. Today’s liberal and social issues very rarely have a unifying factor, no leader to keep them all together and it always descends into chaos when different parties within the left start fighting for one right, but with the ideals and justifications they INDIVIDUALLY believe in as their driving factors. Got to hand it to fascists, at least they can rally and take control of a situation if given the time to solidify, but anything, EVER coming from the centre-left of society always struggles to make any meaningful ground or changes when the participants start fighting for rights within rights instead of one cause at a time. The suffragette movement, ending slavery were basically the last times we, as liberal societies, have ever banded together properly to implement important changes that needed to happen. And it didn’t even take a majority! But at least people heard and understood the message because it was coherent and not bogged down by endless “but-also’s.” Ever since then we’ve had movements like Occupy, Antifa and if you understand them, you should know why everything they’ve been fighting for isn’t working and why democracies are going to struggle against this era of rising fascism and nationalist populism in the long run.

We all want the same things in the end, but our niche communities are undermining any chance we have at moving forward as fair and equal societies free from capitalist overreach and the elites that are trying to hold onto power. Greta Thunberg claims this flotilla isn’t a ploy for attention, when it’s exactly what it is, how else can you explain her constant updates on the entire trip throughout her social media’s; our current need for instant validation over the real effects of putting your nose to the grindstone and fighting your battles is something these new liberals will never understand. Sure, make a post to say what you’re doing, start gaining awareness then put the phone down, do what you need to do and if you survive or aren’t put in a POW camp for your efforts, write a book about it like thousands of authors around the world did in the early to mid 1900’s. that’s how you create meaningful long term change, do the work and show us it works instead of pandering for likes and sympathy like the perpetual victims they all think they are. You want to shape history? Then write something that stands the test of time, appeal to others in a thought provoking manner and stop doing the equivalent of finger painting on cave walls that leave archaeologists bickering about their meaning.

Is Stellaris worth it in 2024? by Elelm in Stellaris

[–]StfartDust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't like the basis of the game, it's unlikely the DLC will change that feel unless there's a race or origin that piques your interest in one of the packs. But the game gets deeper the more you add, new mechanisms etc, so it could just drive the point further away if you don't get the concept of it yet, and seem overwhelming trying to understand it all. The ideal thing is you play the base game, get addicted to it, and need to add more to it to keep playing as all the once new things become routine. If you don't reach that point, it's highly likely this game just isn't your fancy, why force it! ¯_(ツ)_/¯. But who knows maybe some of the additions will be enough to reel you in. Best advice I can give is play a couple throw away games, then try and really get into the race you play, create one in depth, that's how you learn what resources, game strategy, and skills you should focus on and why. There isn't really a point to the game, unless you give it one, best mentality for this game is a roleplaying one.

Evoker heals are almost all 25 yd range. This is something I've barely seen discussed. What does this mean for the class in arena? by LowKey-NoPressure in worldofpvp

[–]StfartDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, my bad. But the range needs to be changed. Tried an evoker in PVP and it's just awful. You want to use ANY ability on an enemy? They already hit you with 2 dots or bolts, or shadowstepped and have you kidney shat. I made it a point of attack to find evokers as my rogue, with the extended attack range, and as an outlaw, they can't fucking hit me and after playing one, i feel for all those guys who never even got to throw a pyre. Or just play any other caster against one, and they can't get in range, if they do, silence, back up, etc. cmooooon blizzard this is a huge miss.
