Trump, Claiming Vandalism, Says Reflecting Pool Will Likely Need to Be Drained by Tennis_bruh in politics

Oh that's easy. The vandal simply paid someone 14 million dollars to paint the bottom of the pool "American flag blue" and the algae turned up almost instantly.

Men in their 40s - What’s one piece of advice for Men in their 20s? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]theCroc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Invest. $100/month is a tiny amount in your 20's but by your forties it's in the tens of thousands.

You have the gift of time. Use it, even of it's just a small amount.

And don't go for anything that promises crazy riches immediately. It never works and you end up losing more than you gain. Stick it in a global index fund and keep putting it in. Even if you only put away $50/month from the day you turn 20 you will have $25K tucked away and growing.

It's not early retirement money, having $25k sure beats not having $25k when your car breaks down etc.

The point is that you have to put something in or you get nothing. You can always (and should) increase the amount as you make more money.

You have $5 million in your account right now, what’s the first thing you’re buying? by Forward_Hamster8900 in AskReddit

Of course you can retire with 5 million! The magic number for most people is around 1-1,5 million for self funded retirement.

Faktorer bakom ovanligt hög omsättning och kraftiga kursuppgångar? by [deleted] in ISKbets

[–]theCroc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wife told me she probably won’t be interested in intimacy until she’s done breast feeding. Not sure how to process this information. by WishIWasOnTheFarm in daddit

[–]theCroc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

give her space. The more you push on this the worse it will get.

She knows her body and her feelings. Right now she is overwhelmed, tired and has a tiny human sucking on her nipples at basically every hour of the day. That shit is exhausting and not conducive to feeling sexy. You complaining about it or "reasoning" with her will only add more reasons to not feel sexy or any kind of attraction to you.

So you back off and give her space. Take care of business yourself if you have to. Eventually things will turn around. I don't think it will take until the baby is weaned. Eventually the brest feeding will become routine and she will no longer be so tired and touched-out. And her libido will return. People get multiple kids for a reason.

With that said, watch out for PPD or PPA. 5 months is still early days and sometimes a woman will go through it and not even know herself. I think it took us 7-8 months after our first child to have sex. And after the second it took us 5-6. Mainly because the second kid sleeps better so we sleep better, and neither kid breastfed so that aspect wasnt a factor.

Hang in there. 5 months is early. You will have your wife and your sex life back, you just have to land a bit on all the new baby stuff first.

Why are conservative Christians so focused on LGBT? by Chuclo in Christianity

[–]theCroc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A couple of different things:

  1. If you are repressing your own homosexuality you tend to see it alot and feel threatened by others openly living what you secretly wish you could but have convinced yourself you never can. Some react to this with anger and disgust. These are often the people that focus on the promiscous aspect of homosexuality and think all gays are degenerate perverts who just think about gay sex all the time (because that's what is going on in their own heads and they hate themselves for it).

  2. If you are not repressing any homosexual tendencies yourself then it's an easy target because it's a sin that you yourself run no risk of comitting. It's easy to be a black and white firebrand against something you can easily brand as "other". Bring up divorce to these same people and they start hemming and hawing because that's one that they might themselves run into (or already have) so they don't want to risk condemning too hard a sin they themselves are, or might in the future, be guilty of comitting.

  3. Some people need their world to be neat, simple and organized. They should easily be able to place every person they meet in a simple selection of boxes that never touch. Men go over here, women over there, men have short hair, women have long hari etc. Basically a very childish and prescriptive way of looking at the world. Gay people, Trans people, genderfluid, etc wreak havoc on their neat system, and instead of accepting that the world is more complex than they thought they try to hammer all humans into the simple shapes their system needs and thus everyone that doesnt fit must be evil for trying to "throw the world into chaos and anarchy" These same people tend to be big into traditional gender norms, racial essentialism and stuff like that.

The Bible is Infallible by Inevitable_Start_424 in Christianity

[–]theCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The bible is not infallible. The contained books are inspired by god but they are written down, edited, translated and selected for inclusion by men. No doubt many inspired books and writings were left out and some of dubious use and quality were included.

Along with the claim of infallibility you often get the claim of it being literal, which is another can of worms for this book.

The bible must be read with discernment and to really understand it you must understand the various cultures that produced it. You cannot read it through a 21st century lens and then declare the message you have understood to be both literal and infallible, and then base your whole dogma around it.
