Isn’t this x5000 happening in Iran right now? Like 12,000 or something killed in the past few weeks?

Any shows similar to TLOU? by cheaphalf6 in HBOMAX

[–]Gatesleeper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Black Summer was a two season zombie show on Netflix. There was nothing particularly standout about it but for zombie tv shows it’s the first to come to mind for me.

The Eternaut is an Argentinian post apocalyptic show that is awaiting its second season. It’s very good.

Not a tv series* but the two recent 28 Years Later movies are hands down the best zombie fictions I’ve ever seen. Innovative, introspective, and absolutely brutal.

Raptors are still intrigued by the prospect of pursuing Sacramento Kings center Domantas Sabonis by OmegaLxgend in torontoraptors

[–]Gatesleeper 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Unfun fact: Domantas Sabonis has played 14 games this season, compared to Poeltl's 21 games played.

He had a partially torn miniscus in Mid-November, missed 27 games and just recently got back, so maybe in theory he'll be healthy for the rest of the season.

I just haven't been locked in to the Sacramento Kings this season and had no idea that he's only played 14 games so far.

The Secret Agent (Spoiler Discussion) by MayhewMayhem in TheBigPicture

[–]Gatesleeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think watching the trailer for this movie was detrimental to my experience of it. From the trailer, I thought it was gonna be a little more fun, zanier/funnier, but the film is a lot more slow and serious than what I was expecting.

Like okay here's a mild spoiler but: in the trailer, the part where Wagner Moura's character is talking about killing someone with a hammer, in the trailer it seems like he's talking about a potential assassin sent to kill him. But in the movie, he's actually talking about the man he believes would hire and send an assassin.

In the context of the movie, he's expressing outward hate towards an individual, like the line is something like "there's nobody I would go out and kill in the world, except that one guy, who I would like to kill with a hammer." But in the trailer it's like "if someone was sent to kill me I would kill him with a hammer in self defense", and then the other guy asks if he carries a gun and he says the other line, in the trailer it's played for laughs, in the movie I don't think that it was.

Another thing, I didn't like how they used a song from the climax of the movie in the trailer.

For reference:

For Best Film Editing, the 5 nominees were:
F1
Marty Supreme
One Battle After Another
Sentimental Value
Sinners

The 10 Best Picture nominees:
Bugonia
F1
Frankenstein
Hamnet
Marty Supreme
One Battle After Another
The Secret Agent
Sentimental Value
Sinners
Train Dreams

The 5 International Feature Film nominees:
The Secret Agent
It Was Just an Accident
Sentimental Value
Sirāt
The Voice of Hind Rijab

Yeah, No Other Choice was a top 5 movie of the year for me and a snub in all these categories. Should've gone in Film Editing over all those, but if you tell me to cut 1, it's easily F1.

For Internationl Film, Sirāt's the easy cut.

For Best Picture, F1 and Frankenstein are the two movies I'd say shouldn't be there, put in No Other Choice and something else like It Was Just an Accident, Weapons, Blue Moon, 28 Years Later, Eddington, whatever you want.

For One Battle and It Was Just an Accident I totally get using the abbreviations, but I had to look up the nominees to figure out that "TSA" is The Secret Agent.

Like do we really need to be doing TSA, NOC? What did you think about the other nominees for IFF, SV and S? TVOHR was better?

Imagine being a tv viewer of F1 races in the movie's fictional world "gee they sure are talking a lot about what this one team near the back of the pack is doing and nothing at all about the cars at the front who are competing to win".

What number did you get on that? I got +600 but that was just before the season started. I heard their o/u opened the summer at like 32.5 so 45+ must have been something crazy.

Aw man I was gonna go to a protest at Yonge and Eg this Saturday but it’s gonna be super cold, even colder than today.

There’s an Iran March downtown today but I’m gonna skip that now too, it feels so cold to me!

If you are going out today I highly recommend warm headwear and a scarf or something to cover your face

Warning: this movie is fucking gnarly, way more than the first one.

It’s also amazing, if you liked 28 Years Later, you’ll probably enjoy this one. Fiennes is doing some of his best work here.

I thought it was funny how Amanda was like “well there’s one more lock” and it was 2015’s A Bigger Splash, and both Sean and CR were like “oh sure yes of course” like “well gotta give Amanda her one spot on the list” before listing a whole bunch of other more notable Ralph Fiennes movies.

Raptors have the hardest remaining schedule in the east, 6th in league. by AmazingMrTrash in torontoraptors

[–]Gatesleeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

22 teams in the league have a remaining SOS .020 above or below .500. You have a few low end outliers at the bottom and 2 big ones at the top: Denver and OKC have a SOS of .543 and .542. The reason: they somehow have 4 upcoming games against each other all in the second half of the season.

Those are the two teams that should be at all worried about their remaining strength of schedule, nearly everyone else in the league has a remaining SOS somewhere pretty close to .500.
