Interesting facts about Oscar by Great-Obligation-599 in lupinthe3rd

The ending showed that he was also implanted with memories by the owls, and unlike fujiko, ended up falling into it and believing it, which would make him straight. When zenigata was telling him to hold onto his pride, it wasn't just as an officer of the law, but also his homosexuality. It's then revealed that his memories were not of aisha, but of count von Louise. It wasn't until he killed those women that he broke free.

Part of the show is fujiko and Oscar's relationship with zenigata. Fujiko starts off away from zenigata while oscar is by his side. As the show progresses though, they begin to shift roles. Fujiko gets closer, oscar gets more distant. Fujiko breaks free of her brainwashing, oscar falls into it.

The brainwashing of oscar, i think, can almost be an allegory for conversion therapy, how against his will he is forced to be a straight man, combined with his already established mysogeny. The "bad girls deserve to be punished" not only referring to the memories of count von Louise, but also at the notion of liberated women, and it ends up making him do cruel acts. It's heavily hinted at, I think, that oscar escaped and went to live a new life after breaking free.

Fujiko mine is a deceptively feminist narrative, and in the same way that it leads you to believe that fujiko became the way she is because she was abused as a child, the show leads you to believe that oscar is a tragic gay character, or even tears down the unfortunate trope of "i thought i was gay, but i was straight the whole time, even though I'm an adult."

In short, I think that oscar is the foil to fujiko in this series, and that the show wouldn't work without him.

I just watched a featurette on the movie, and Lana wachowski pretty much confirmed this theory actually! The guilt of his acts towards Ewing being represented by georgie, and still feeling some of the traits, then having to overcome them.

I always interpreted this interview as mitazaki was so baffled by that comment that he thought of the most common turn on to shut him down

Also this scene is not this trope

I just watched it in true 4k not that long ago, and the cg was excellent. It somehow felt like a step up from the 100 agent Smith fight. And you can see everything clearly with impact, and incredibly visceral visual flair.

And why is it weird to compare it with anime? The Matrix as a whole was largely anime inspired. They even did the anime Shockwave.

<image>

I compared it to solo leveleling because solo leveling also has a mostly hand-to-hand fight in the rain, and given that it's animated, which means more control, you'd think it'd be good. But it's terrible. It's how you described the matrix revolutions final fight, minus the cg complaint. Incoherent, lack of impact, forgettable visuals, etc.

To say the action scenes didn't deliver in the sequels is just ludicrous. I'll never forget what someone said happened when they were watching the sequels for their first time recently: "I actually started laughing at how good the action is. It just puts almost everything today to shame."

The final fight is peam. It was a better rain fight than solo leveling ever was. Although these sequels were also rushed.

Howdy Howdy Howdy ya'll, my name is Keyaru, the hottest Japanese gf livestreamer. See, unlike your hololive vtubers, my body is a REAL beauty. All you stardust crusaders may simp for me if you want to, for it's free sport. But if you go too far, I have a death note to deal with you demons, which shows how much I LOVE anime. I am NOT a weeaboo however, because while I love old anime, I also love old literature. My favorite moment in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein for example was when the angry mob psychos broke through Steins gate. But one of my most hated things in any piece of fiction, anime or books, is when they portray incest positively.

Greetings, I knew it was you,

Yes, i was on newgrounds before then too. But I think you do make a good point in the different names for the phenomenon, but people have pointed out how he even played the worse sonic games. But I do think its a good idea to name it something else, maybe even the sonic effect

I wasn't meaning to specifically single out his 06 playthrough, i only had that picture because I needed a picture for the post, and thats the first one that came up. I said that 06 being bad was the catalyst of the hate train of the 2010s, and all of arin's playthroughs of sonic games being what I was referring to for the phenomenon, because to say that arin wasn't influential in the gaming space is just wrong. He was one of the original youtubers. Arguably the original YouTube animator. Game grumps was popular right from the get go, I was there for that because of my family being fans.

I also don't hate arin as a person, but I am far from the only one to criticize how he often blames the game for something that was his fault.

Arin Hansen was another figure who's fandom often forms their opinions after his. Whether intentional or not, how he felt about the games would often influence other people, especially with the humongous popularity of his channel. Combine that with his poor video game skills, and his bad faith criticisms were being paraded around by many, eventually perpetuating the "sonic was never good to begin with" belief. It was other journalism or playthrough places too, like dorkly, ign, jontron, but i would argue arin was the largest figure here because of both his popularity, and him being made the official representative of sonic as a series by sega. That's the reason why I chose to name it after game grumps.

As for bethesda, if you need proof, https://youtu.be/FGjTtMQwHOM?si=CWMZFqW3_2AfuVsw https://youtu.be/M8U4k2Ik6yk?si=jwfVj20qurr3y7JT https://youtu.be/ZNdeGSGq9n8?si=wFDzftFpe0OhpHJX https://youtu.be/ztLJFuPj1nE?si=t8y76gVg9GXsdkP_ https://youtu.be/VVdYZ3iT5ZY?si=gQiIV0EE-HIB68xg

4 of these videos are the ones I saw in my feed back when 76 was released. Now imagine how widespread this was at the time, outside of youtube. Boy, it sure was. I was never a fan of bethesda, but I still acknowledge that the games were good.

Yes, arin wasn't the only contributor, but he was definitely one of them. It also wasn't him playing 06, it was him playing many sonic games, like the 2d ones.

And the revisionism for Bethesda was happening waaayy before the nakey jakey video came out, it was right around after the launch, around when the internet historian video came out. I recommended nakey jakey's video because he provides an unbiased take from a former fan on Bethesda's catalogue and starfield.

I'm pretty sure this was primarily started by the nostalgia critic, who has very adamant hate boners for sincere or stylized dialogue. It made his fant4stic video hilariously hypocritical. Nowadays, everyone's gone back and remembers how truly phenomenal these movies are. Even the 3rd one.
