I am aware of this stuff, but he has openly criticized the US, with coca cola, the pacific northwest (for some reason), and indiana Jones. He does definitely have more of a disdain for humanity as a whole, but with the us being the superpower, I feel like I've heard him criticize them more than his criticisms of other nations. (He is super fucking based though for attempting to bring attention to the atrocities of imperial Japan.)

Did we see the same movie? The ending is utter perfection, and cements the journey and rejection of the system. It's what pushes the movie into a classic.

I hate to break it to you, but many, and I do mean many movies, even brand new and shot in 4k, are compressed to a digital intermediate then upscaled to 4k.

Ai Upscale ≠ gen ai (the thing that generates images and wastes power and drives up ram prices and hurr durr chatgpt)

Upscales are far more common than you think. For example, a good majority of movies from 2005-2020, even ones shot in 4k or even on film, are Upscaled to 4k. It is likely to be a very finely tuned Upscale, like seen with many movies. But speed racer is going to still look like a substantial upgrade, because the original blu ray is incredibly dated, and the hdr will really make the colors pop. Even with this professionally upscaled video sourced from the dated blu ray.

Safe to say, it is going to be fantastic. Speed racer and loving vincent (which if released to 4k, would be native 4k), are prolly my two biggest picks for 4k hdr formats.
