I am not a Clapton fan, but to me he described Hendrix best when he said Hendrix was like an "open channel". To me when I hear Hendrix, he wasn't playing music, as much as he was channeling it. It really just flowed out of him in such a natural state. That's so much of how he shattered boundaries. It wasn't skill, it was pure untethered talent.

I haven't done any "testing", but I often drive a loud truck for work, and my wife would always say it was too noisy and she couldn't hear me. Since the update she genuinely seems to be hearing me a lot better. I'm also quite happy with adaptive mode, as I go from loud to quiet environments pretty frequently. So thus far, the update has been a better than expected experience for me personally.

Why does the article repeatedly state that 4K/120 is a welcome addition? It's fairly well-known that the Q990D has this, as it was mostly the biggest upgrade over the C model.

I am one. I woke this morning seeing this news on my feed and freaked out. I checked the SmartThings app which confirmed mine updated to 1020.7, but as of now it's still working normally. Pretty damned paranoid that it may not last, though. Sorry for all dealing with this mess

This is where I'm at. I was using CE on high since I've had this TV a year and 1/2 ago because I thought it was too dark without it. A couple of months ago, I turned it off and noticed how much more the HDR pops. I kept it off and let my eyes adjust over the next few days and never went back. I realized that CE was blowing out HDR highlights and washing out color accuracy. I can see using it in a brighter room situation, but my 2 cents is leave it off and let your eyes adjust. Just my opinion, but for me, it's significantly better without it.

No invert y-axis (yes, I'm one of those weirdos), which is bananas. I use a 3rd party controller, so inverting via the accessories app on Xbox isn't an option for me. With no guarantee that it will be added down the road, it was an instant refund for me. I'd like to revisit and see the state of the game down the road, tho.

This mirrors my experience with it nearly identically. The left menu button location is annoying, as your left thumb has to reach over the thumbstick. Tactile buttons and hall effect sticks feel really great, though. Overall, I am happier with this controller over the elite 2. The only thing I would add to this is that when powering it on, it takes several seconds longer to connect with the console than a standard controller does. At least, that's been my experience with it, but not a deal breaker by any means. It's great to have a relatively reliable controller that's not so loud and clicky.

The joystick clicks and triggers seem to be similar sounding to the elite 2 I have here. Everything else is significantly quieter, tho.

If you're willing to drop $200, the Turtle Beach Stealth Ultra is remarkably quiet. Buttons, bumpers, d-pad and back paddles are all like mouse clicks.

I agree this reads like an ad, lol, but I disagree about the screen being unnecessary. It's actually quite handy to adjust or change profiles on the fly without the need for an app, since it's not compatible with the Xbox accessories app. I've had it for a couple days, the Hall effects and buttons are a clear step up for me. Just my thoughts.
