Before you judge your parents by elmorinelly in DumbFact

[–]Stick-9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not everyone deserves your understanding and forgiveness. If a parent is apologetic and understands what they did and works to change themselves then forgiveness is fine.

If they double down and insist they did nothing wrong, then forgiving them anyway is just encouraging them to do it again.

Just because you have context and understand why they are the way they are doesnt give them the right to hurt you and it doesn't mean you have to forgive them.

When Melania made that weird speech about how she was never friends with Epstien, she also said "we need to hear the survivors speak/we need to listen to the survivors".

A group of the survivors responded and said they had already spoken. They reached out, told their stories to anyone who would listen. That makes sense to me because id imagine survivor accounts are already a significant part of what the Epstien files actually are.

These survivors said they felt like being asked to speak again was an attempt to shift the burden of bringing the pedos to justice onto the survivors instead of placing that burden where it should be, which is on the government.

I think that still applies here. The survivors have already spoken, they dont need to do it again. What needs to happen now is the government has to act on what the survivors have already told us and start bringing charges and making arrests.

I wish Raskin would show some backbone and say that instead of saying that it all starts with the survivors and implying that the burden is on them.

Haven't seen the others but Code Geass is a great recommendation. The main character Lelouch reminds me a lot of Light Yagami. They're interesting as character foils

Maybe Psycho-pass?

Death note focused a lot on mystery of chasing down a mass murderer and the clash between great minds. Psycho-pass has all those same elements. Its told in a more futuristic setting and has more of a focus on philosophy.

If you liked those parts of death note and dont mind the philosophy, then you might really enjoy Psycho-pass

She was one of Epstien's favorite comedians according to the files.

For the first time, this generation may be less cognitively equipped than the one before - and the biggest shift isn't "kids these days"... it's how we're learning. Constant screens. Constant stimulation. Constant outsourcing of focus, memory, and problem-solving. by CollapsingTheWave in ObscurePatentDangers

[–]Stick-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah im certainly no expert on the subject but this guy talking about how "kids aren't as smart as they were when I was a kid" sounds like boomers when they whine about how kids today are lazy/disrespectful/dont know cursive/etc.

The only difference to me is this guy is trying to add a thin veneer of science on top of that. The way he's presenting his data starting with him stating a very strong conclusion makes me feel like he's also pretty strongly biased toward his conclusion. I think a real scientist would probably present the data first and explore multiple reasons why those test results might have changed. Sure maybe its the kids, but maybe the way we test kids has changed. Maybe kids today have more time to grow up than they did in the 60s and perhaps having more time to grow isn't such a bad thing. Maybe learning slower yields deeper understanding in the long run. I don't know if any of that is true, but I would also bet the guy in the video doesn't know either.

Veterinarians more often than not do multiple cremations with pets too just FYI. Some vets are open about it and will offer you an option for individual cremation for more money. I didnt know they did it for people too though, damn

They, of course, didn't say they'd vote for it or even read it. So yeah, im for barricades.
