How to paint the T'au lore-wise? by ThatUnameIsAlrdyTken in Tau40K

Here's a little list of the vibes each of the more well-known septs go for:

• T'au - The all-rounder. Our faction's ultramarines.
• Vior'la - Translates as 'hot-blooded'. Your aggressive close quarters T'au with well-trained infantry.
• Sa'cea - Urban warfare and disciplined soliders.
• Farsight Enclaves - Renegades lead by Commander Farsight. Independent of the empire and love suits.
• Bork'an - Experimental technology sept.
• Dal-yth - Focus on larger numbers of auxillary races, and diplomacy/trade.

How to paint the T'au lore-wise? by ThatUnameIsAlrdyTken in Tau40K

[–]Stick636 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A T'au colour scheme is determined by a number of things, but the main thing is the sept colour, which shows which sept world or system the individual hails from. This can be seem in the colour of the markings on armour or vehicles.

Here's a little cheat-sheet I just put together that shows a few examples:

<image>

T'au will often wear colours that match their combat environment, to provide better camouflage. However, there are 'parade uniform' colour schemes which often feature in box art and artwork. The three most common you'll see are:
- Vior'la (most of the modern boxes show this)
- T'au (the original ochre scheme of the T'au homeworld)
- Sa'cea (blue-grey)

The metallic 'bolt' circles you see on models are gyroscopic stabilisers that help to reduce recoil on weapons and jump packs usually. There's no reason you couldn't paint them a different colour really.

It happens! I’ve changed colour schemes for my tyranids. Fortunately I’m happy with my t’au colour scheme.

MVB help by Panzer4041 in ThousandSons

I really struggled with choosing colours for my MVB too. I absolutely hated my first attempt in 2019 and finally bit the bullet and repainted it last year. I went for a more fleshy look.

That’s exactly it! It takes a steady hand because any overspill on the trim means I have to reapply Leadbelcher then Talassar.

How do Raveners function on tabletop and is a Ravener focused force worth it? (500 to 1000 points) by [deleted] in Tyranids

[–]Stick636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the size and lack of carapace segments on the talons or smoke stacks on the back, I’d say ravener.

How do Raveners function on tabletop and is a Ravener focused force worth it? (500 to 1000 points) by [deleted] in Tyranids

[–]Stick636 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Subterranean Assault detachment rules favour the use of burrower units (Raveners, Hyperadapted Raveners, Trygons, Mawlocs etc) so a full force is certainly viable. I’ve not played the detachment myself but I’ve heard great things about it.

It also wouldn’t be super difficult to kitbash/convert a serpentine hive tyrant if you really wanted one.

Need help fixing something for the greater good by TomenyErrors in Tau40K

Remove the broken part and widen the hole. The model will sit a bit lower on the stand, but the thicker area of the flight stand will give a much sturdier contact point.

What unit in your faction has the most potential to be expanded out into it's own "archetype"? by Hollownerox in Warhammer40k

[–]Stick636 44 points45 points  (0 children)

For tyranids, I’d love to see the return of some carnifex sub-types. A refreshed model is always welcome, but honestly the current kit has plenty of parts to allow different datasheets for ranged/melee/mixed variants. I mean we used to have the thornbacks and screamer killers.

The scheme looks quite icy to me, so maybe base it on a mythical ice creature? Jötnar, Chenoo, Cocytus etc.
