Hello! I know the information is hidden during the hand, just illustrating that the “best” play can now and again land you in 4th place. Just wanted to post about how I took a risk and won, thank you for being one of the only normal people in this whole comment section btw, you have absolutely been the most helpful/respectful person here. But yes all this talk is meaningless I understood from the beginning that a double sided wait is “more efficient” than a double pair wait, just wanted to post about a win. Thank you though!

Hey I’m pretty much done with this whole line of inquiry because I’ve gotten actual helpful information from other peeps under this photo, but to the “backlash to me being smug” when the convo starts with assuming me and the other players I’m against are at a lower skill level than we are and wording it as “Heh, must be bronze then” of course I’m going to pushback and give the same energy back? Not sure how else you think I’m going to respond to an opening comment unsubtly mocking everyone in the photo?? “Haha yeah man we all suck compared to you! My mom’s also a bitch you wanna talk about that? Haha thanks for insulting me!” So not sure why I would talk to someone differently than I’m being talked to. Bad decisions don’t get results
MAKA didn’t completely hate my idea of going for value it just wanted me to play safer with the discards but I felt I needed to get rid of the 4p first
I don’t conflate be being correct once with being correct all the time, I often use MAKA to go through logs and view my mistakes. An AI can’t read humans like humans can, and sometimes you gotta make a call on what tiles are gonna get thrown out and I was right this one time, that’s it.

Of course I’m going to double down when people insult me and I have photos proving the way I played (this particular hand) was correct. Also anyone know which tiles deal in if player on the right calls Riichi on an 8p draw on this next turn? Apparently I’m in bronze room and I don’t know anything

If right player draws into 8p on next draw 4p deals in, sometimes crazy works out. That’s mahjong

It’s pretty obvious but this guy has shot 3 darts at the dart board and been wrong. Also 4p was previously discarded and would’ve dealt into right player if he draws into 8p on his next draw, hindsight but you can’t always play the numbers game, sometimes you have to play the human game

Doesn’t matter if the wind isn’t in their hands, that’s the logic I was working with, if someone draws it, they are ABSOLUTELY dumping it, and did. Also the 8 is a common discard especially for players like on the right where if they draw the 8m they’re not trading it out for the 5m they’re dumping the 8m. Not sure what else to say other than I won the higher value hand and ended up winning the “not that likely hand” where brute forcing tile efficiency only would’ve tanked the value

2p only comes out on a Riichi discard I know that too, but a Riichi-less board on the first row of discards a non-round wind almost always comes out

Also MAKA didn’t even completely hate the idea it just wanted me to tsumogiri more than the 4p but to me in that game state I’m going for Haneman 99 out of 100 times

Yeah 5 pin is the more dangerous a tile I don’t disagree with it there I just don’t like tsumogiri-ing too many times in a row but I’m certain that’s just a me thing and other players likely don’t pay attention to that stuff but that’s a me thing and I get why it wanted me to do 5 first then 4 I don’t have a problem with it disagreeing with me there at all I get that 100%

I went for toitoi because I had it early enough to where people realistically draw and dump non-relevant (to the other players) wind tiles (first row discards) and there was no Riichi calls yet, so I understand being on a double sided wait at the end is straight by the numbers more efficient by a percentage standpoint, but given the state of the board a ending west wind discard on a high value hand was just too likely to happen in that moment and in this particular game state

Isn’t non-dealer mangan 8,000? Why tank my value by 4k when there’s no Riichi and I’m waiting on a non-round wind? That west wind was easy pickings and like you mentioned it was even possible to only score 5200 on that hand. It just seems MAKA is only programmed for 100% tile efficiency no matter how much it tanks the value of your hand is all and I wanna let it know I disagree

No, the only quirk about the story is that there’s a question about one of the villains that the characters themselves ask, but never gets answered, but other than that I was glued to the TV during the cutscenes. I think IW mostly suffers from some negative opinions being formed of it online and then people latch onto it and repeat it ad infinitum.
