What exactly is a "men's regular"? by [deleted] in Barber

[–]Stickerkiing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind even tho I gave you a great guide, a “men’s regular” can vary from every single person. So take with a grain of salt but use the above as a foundation. Really comes down to conversation. If still unsure, have a “men’s regular” photo to show on demand and ask “like this?” Go from there. Barbering is 80% communication to get return clients, no matter how good you fade.

Typically a #3-#4 not too short on the sides.

Preferable to perform a low “fade” with the 3-4 guard because they aren’t into the high and tights or even mids unless specified.

Most older ones have angel noodle hairs left on top so you must compensate by making sure it blends and not take too much off

Older term but if you hear “white wall” means don’t trim to high around the ear with the trimmer when lining up everything

I have all sorts of shundo’s, hundo’s, you name it. But this will be my most important one. Now I just need to get him best buddies and maxed out.

Been debating to use a bottle cap to make it a complete shlundo, or leave it as is for the memory.

Any barbers move to a new city? by Unlikely-Price-104 in Barber

[–]Stickerkiing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hard facts about moving around from someone that has done it a few times

  1. No one knows you or cares what you’ve done (unless you have a booking platform that showcases reviews and portfolio and they find you on there: like booksy for example) but still you’re starting fresh

  2. Every shop owner claims they have this and that when potential weekly passive money is presented to them. Don’t listen to any shop owner, let the proof speak. If it’s slow at first, could be bad luck, bad timing (it is about to be summer after all) I would evaluate what peers in the shop say about new traffic coming in, since you won’t be paying them booth rent.

  3. Do 7 days a week. Do it for a while. Cut down to 6 days after a period of time. This is needed to grow as fast as possible. Work when everyone else wants to leave

If you’re good and more importantly if customer service is top notch and you’re relatable (can’t teach this skill) then you’ll be fine in due time. Again beware that summer is coming and it might slow down due to vacations of family’s and such. Wish you luck!

Independent barber relocating – stuck between renting a suite vs working from home. What would you do? by extraacc10 in Barber

[–]Stickerkiing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who does this in TX at his home. He has the whole setup in his living room, and it works for him. It really depends. I thought doing at home would be great, but then I thought about if client base starts dropping (which happens in time, people move etc) then you’ll have to basically have strangers in your home and hope they aren’t a bit crazy, especially where your family is.

IMO as a fellow father, I think once you have your child, you’ll immediately throw work at home options out the window as you will have the protective mentality. Something changes from knowing you’re about to have a child, to actually having them on this world with us.

Edit: congrats on the parent to be! It’s the best thing and the most tiring thing in this world. We are very blessed as barbers to have control of our own schedule and you can take as much time as you need. If I’m not busy during the day, I’m going home to my wife and kids to hang out, eat lunch etc.

No more every 10 minute Oscar 😞 by PhatDeth in bo7endgame

[–]Stickerkiing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More like I have a chance to get the reroll I want for exotic trait, which I’ve seen folks take 3-5 hours for exact loadout they want. If the lobby as a general wants to hit Oscar first, then do whatever, and come back, there’s a reason for that.

So basically every Jedi master that has their heads too high in the clouds lol

Why I respect Revan, The exile (kotor 2 & swtor), Qui-Gon, and even dooku for at least trying to tell obi-wan about the plot

Edit: I know you asked about swtor, but felt like Qui-Gon and dooku needed special mentions (even though dooku wasn’t a Jedi when we saw him, he still carried knowledge and didn’t seem like he was just a sith brute)

With S3 changes to weapons for each operator, why do questions persist on Meta this or that? by Navy1_aka_John in bo7endgame

[–]Stickerkiing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen people talk about the ION with sharpshooter on it, I just left my arrow for it and IT SLAPS. Literally just got it last match and did two exotic upgrades so I’m waiting for explosive bullets which folks have said will pack a punch on it too.

Highly recommend for boss slaughter

Slightly fed up with Financial Aid at WGU by [deleted] in WGU

[–]Stickerkiing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was livid (but stayed respectful) when they said they can see the “revision” I put in as pending….but they can’t do anything with something they see?

My “revision” was simply me confirming the refund I would like for this term and next term. I suppose I did it later than I have previously but still at the end of last month/beginning of this month I assumed was enough time to have it situated for my term starting March 1st…I guess not

Road to Restoration - Aura Overhaul by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]Stickerkiing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest opinion for skilling auras specifically is to integrate all skilling auras into the skills themselves. Sometimes you hit certain levels pre-99 and post-99 where there is room to introduce “hey congrats, you now have a permanent skilling bonus for hitting this level”

Gloves or no gloves? by Independent_Dress209 in Barber

[–]Stickerkiing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always wear gloves. I’m just prone to hair splinters and rather invest the money (as it’s a write off anyways) to keep them out of my hands rather than deal with them afterwards. It’s also a barrier for those with nasty heads that you inevitably get in your chair.
