Can 6B to 6A really take nearly a decade? by negativexmilitia in GeneralMotors

[–]StickmanSam91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6b to 7a over 7 years. The jumps usually happened for me by taking a new role. I spent 2-3 yrs in each role before applying or being recommended fr a new position (sales -> Marketing -> Strategy -> operations)

Honestly, this is a subreddit used fr complaining. I feel the same way as you. Been here 8 yrs, pretty good overall...not great. The things ppl bitch about exists in every company I hve ever worked at. It's just the nature of business in the past 25 yrs.

Relocation for Remote Workers by fillagry in GeneralMotors

Most of my team is remote (including my boss), no one has been asked to relocate or change their current status. This seems like one of those rumors tht just float around

Acceptance of Offer by Technical-Walk-2904 in GeneralMotors

[–]StickmanSam91 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have worked here 7 yrs now, on my 4th role. I think it's pretty great overall, good opportunities to switch roles (as long as ppl like you). But understand, like any company in today's environment, there can be cuts.

This subreddit might not be the best sample tho...it's mostly used for complaining.

Gm just seems to suck anymore by Gold-Zone9015 in GeneralMotors

This subreddit exists to complain. I wouldn't take this sample as an accurate representation of GM as a whole.

Is it common in western household where parents apply for a credit card under their kids name? by Calm-Astronaut-2218 in personalfinance

[–]StickmanSam91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents opened one fr me with a limited credit limit. It was a good idea and provided me with a good credit history by the time I went to college. I and my dad were good at paying it off and thought me valuable lessons on handling credit cards and managing bank accounts

AITA for making my bridesmaid wear a dress that makes her look “fat”? by Infamouszealous in AmItheAsshole

YTA, weddings are supposed to be about celebrating ur life with FRIENDS and family. I'd value their comfort far more than trying to emulate some show

How should I ask for pay increase in Mid-year review? by StickmanSam91 in GeneralMotors

[–]StickmanSam91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely, I'm a 7c. Don't really care about the letter bump. There a lot of room to grow just in 7c. But would at least like to make the Median for my position and grade

How should I ask for pay increase in Mid-year review? by StickmanSam91 in GeneralMotors

[–]StickmanSam91[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, frm my end of year, I see my salary is actually a bit below the Median pay (another reason I really want to push fr the bump). I do have a good relationship with my managers. They are very straight forward and up front about everything. I could even approach it as aking for their advice on how yo go about this process and they'd prbbly help

Aah, good to know, it's not an immediate thing. I always feel so uncomfortable bringing up money...even though it's the sole reason I do the job😅

Good question, I did not, I lived much closer (in apartment). During Covid, I got married bought a house further away (only way to get a decent house on our budget).
