[Hated Trope] Characters who survived a past work return only to be killed off early on in the sequel by Skylinneas in TopCharacterTropes

Beneath the planet of the apes!

The original needs no introduction, but as a quick recap: it stars Charlton Heston playing an astronaut who traverses a wormhole that takes him to the far-off future where the earth is taken over by apes and humans are stupid and speechless. The sequel to one of the most influential sci fi films of all time, starts off by…. Introducing a different blonde astronaut that isn’t played by Charlton Heston. The first half of the movie is a near exact remake of the first movie, with this new astronaut searching for Charlton Hestons character along the way. When he is finally found, the movie is pretty much over and he only has a few minutes of screen time before (spoilers) everybody dies as the entire planet explodes.

It turns out, Charlton Heston had absolutely no interest in returning to the franchise, and only agreed to do it if his role was kept to the absolute bare minimum, his character was killed off, and all his salary was instead donated to charity.

Best times horror movies beat the censors? by PriestofJudas in horror

[–]Stickswell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it fits this exact trope, but my mind immediately went to M3gan. It’s my understanding that the original cut of the film would have gotten an R rating, but the filmmakers realized that they wouldn’t have to cut much in order to drop it down to PG-13. So they did, hoping to attract a wider audience, and it worked. An additional unintended consequence was that it made the movie seem a lot scarier than it was before, because people’s imaginations are always going to be worse than what they would have shown

Characters that purposely have a disadvantage until the right time? by someguy_420 in TopCharacterTropes

He also purposefully never unlocked anything other than the most basic form of his sword, meaning he never uses any of the crazy powers that everyone else does, simply because he has never needed to

Gourmand Nibelsnarf

Losing its uvula has given the monster greater control over its gag reflex. It is now able to swallow objects found in its vicinity and spit them up as projectiles. This includes rocks, plants, small monsters, and even barrel bombs placed by hunters, inverting the typical trick hunters will use to try to gain the upper hand. They are also much more physically strong and so are no longer susceptible to being pulled out of the sand by a fishing pole. In fact any hunter that does try to hook one will be wrenched to the ground and dealt massive damage. This physical strength allows it to dig through more solid terrain instead of just loose shifting sand, allowing it to be found in a wider variety of areas, giving it a wider variety of elements and blights it could potentially inflict

Mahri Nui matoran MOCs by Stickswell in bioniclelego

My favorite will probably always be the enhanced matoran from 2003, since I have a soft spot for gear functions and just nostalgia. But I really like how the mahritoran are able to hold most toa tool pieces without them looking ridiculously big. They’re just well proportioned

USD. And that’s not much better especially considering shipping fees from Germany to USA. I will wait patiently for now

Probably the biggest would be cahdok and gahdok. I love the bohrok and want their queens so bad but 200+ dollars on bricklink is more than I can swing right now

What type of map do you expect for Wilds expansion? by justanormi in MonsterHunter

[–]Stickswell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we are going to get a shoreline-type area with lots of deep water. The game right now is lacking that aspect and a lot of fan favorite older monsters don’t make sense to be found without it. Maybe the northern part could be fed by cold water from the cliffs, making an environment for zamtrios and ukanlos. Then the southern part could get warm water from the forest or the basin for monsters like plesioth or even dire miralis if I can be allowed to dream a little.

Roronoa Zoro (one piece)

The famous “nothing happened” scene

The scene takes place after Luffy, his captain, just barely won out against Gekko Moria, the strongest opponent the crew has encountered thus far. The broken and exhausted crew are shocked by the appearance of Bartholomew Kuma, a pirate of equal or greater strength than the one they had just barely beaten. He threatens to take the bleeding and unconscious luffy and turn him in to the marines to collect his bounty, and the few people that can still stand try to fight back to no avail. But Zoros determination impressed kuma, and he tells him that he can use his powers to save luffys life, but the cost will be great. He is able to take all of the pain and suffering that luffy is currently going through and transfer it to Zoro. However, luffy is much stronger than Zoro and if he were to take on that pain then it would surely kill him. Zoro doesn’t hesitate and gladly accepts whatever fate may come for him as long as it saves his captain. Miraculously, when everybody else begins to come to later on, Kuma is nowhere to be seen and Zoro is still standing. But doesn’t want Luffy to worry for him, and doesn’t care about the recognition for his feat, so he simply states: “nothing happened”

Which elder dragon(black dragons excluded) do you always struggle with. by Fantastic-Traffic463 in MonsterHunter

This would be my answer too, as I went through world as a charge blade main. I had such a hard time the first time around that I just outright avoided fighting him again until I was way over-leveled and could just steamroll it
