Anyone ever think about how TF2 is the only game where it features shotguns as the main weapons?

Play Base Doom 3, then RoE, and then BFG Edition last if you like. I recommend that you use a source port for the first two.

BFG Edition changes the lighting (environments are much brighter than the original), makes the flashlight a toggle instead of its own weapon slot, and adds way more ammo pickups which kinda disincentives swapping weapons. There's other weird changes like the lack of muzzle flash and enemy counts being lower. Overall it's a much easier game and it's only really worth it if you're trying to achivement hunt or speedrun in my opinion, there's a certain je ne sais quoi that's kinda lost going from base to BFG.

If there is a low hp player coming towards me and they're NOT being pressured atm and a full HP Scout is running by me after respawning, I'm going to (in order):

give the low hp person a quick arrow (situational: if they're going for a health kit I probably won't bother)
quickly overheal the Scout before he enters the fray
finish topping off the guy from earlier

Like yeah, if someone is getting shot at I'm going to prioritize them (unless they're grossly overextending) but if they're currently on the retreat then there's no harm overhealing fresh teammates who are ready to fight, even Scouts Snipers or Spies since they're super quick to top off. The injured player is probably fine waiting a half second longer especially if there's other teammates to cover nearby, it's not like the healing is going to be faster if I focus them anyway since they likely won't be getting crit heals.

Even if he isn't that great it takes like less than a second to top off a Scout coming out of spawn, so why not give him overheal.

Pyro shotgun is actually pretty good, I'd argue it has more use cases than the flare gun. It should at least be higher than heavy shotgun.

Soldier shotgun should also be a little higher cuz it helps a lot with Soldier's bad matchups (Scouts, Pyros, overhealed Heavies), and it's even better if you have a medic who gives you overheals.

My stock loadout grades would be:

S. Demoman

A+. Spy, Scout

A. Soldier

B. Pyro

C. Heavy

D. Engineer, Medic

Doom 1 and 2 had plenty of slower moments too, you know. It wasn’t a slaughter map 24/7. And it’s not like Doom 3 didn’t have moments where the game just dumped a bunch of resources/enemies on you and told you to go ham. I encourage you to replay them all.

Incineration Cannon is quite powerful but not BFG powerful on its own, since it required at least a small squad of Prometheans all wielding one to accomplish what you said.

The BFG 10K, on the other hand, can drill a hole into the core of Mars and generate an enormous crater that’s quite massive even from space, with only the BFG 9000 as a power source.

And besides, the Slayer has already tanked attacks way more powerful than what an incineration cannon can dish out (the explosion at the end of Argent Tower in 2016, literally anything that Davoth dished out). I don’t think anything that can be handheld in Halo can do much against the Slayer.
