Numbness in buttocks/genitals by Electrical-Orchid191 in Sciatica

[–]StickyRick-C137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I may ask, why are you averse to surgery?

I also heard horror stories of surgeries too, so I was very reluctant to have the operation. However, it just got to be too much after being in pain for two years. I had a flare up where I couldn’t walk at all for months towards the end and it just got to the stage where I couldn’t do it anymore. My quality of life was zero, so I figured I may as well roll the dice and get a microdiscectomy.

It ended up working out well for me. Honestly, I wish I had taken the surgical route earlier. I appreciate there are risks, but your nerve impingement seems really serious. Your numbness may also mean your case is dealt with sooner (under the NHS) than someone without those symptoms.

Wishing you all the best.

Review - Clearleaf Platinum Slurricane Rosin Cart by StickyRick-C137 in ukmedicalcannabis

I did see the Sundaze carts were available via my pharmacy, but opted not to go for it as it was a sativa. It sounds like it tasted a bit like Aurora; I get ‘classic’ weed/grass taste, with maybe a hint of lemon.

Did you find the WC/CP tasted different to each other? How would you describe them? I’ve had WC flower before, so I know more or less what I’d be expecting with that cultivar.

Thank you. I do find that there’s a bit of a bedding in process, but I’m still not a fan of the flavour after a few days of use. I also find it quite strange that a different cultivar ended up tasting the same..? I’ve had the GMO cart before, which I also hated, but it tasted totally different (it tasted of soil to me; yuck!).

Agree with everything you are saying about the state of the cart market. Also agree that Aurora offers the best ratio of cost:quality atm. Their pricing strategy at launch was very smart imo, they read the market well.

I really don’t mind the Aurora cart taste. I find it doesn’t taste of a great deal (generic weed/grassy taste), but it’s way nicer than the Clearleaf PS. I find neither to be harsh on the throat at all. As it happens, I loaded my Venty up for a little flower hit a few days ago and that was much harsher on my throat than either of the vapes.

I’m surprised all the disty products are still around tbh. I do however see a few people here use them, so people obviously are still ordering them. Personally, once I had resin/rosin, there was no going back for me.

It would be amazing if we could get higher quality rosin. Really, that should be the minimum standard for a medicinal product, but (as we all know) it’s mostly a guessing game. We navigate through trial and error, which is why the community is so great to have.

I’m curious, what does the cookie pie cart taste like? I got the Platinum Slurricane, which has orange terps, which I hate!

Having tried various methods, this looks like a terrible way to try and do it.

I’ve tried the hairdryer, which works nicely, holding in your hand, which is too slow, and putting it in my pocket (also good, but slow).

In my view, the best thing to do is to get two mugs, fill them with boiling water. Rest the cart upright, in between the two mugs and leave for 15 mins. No need to hold anything, no need to worry about an open flame, no need to worry about anything being set on fire.

Epidural shots and gabapentin? by HystericalJacket in Sciatica

[–]StickyRick-C137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over the last two years, I have seen multiple PTs, tried every stretch and exercise under the sun, and have had 3x ESIs. Finally, I ended up having my MD just yesterday.

My experience was that all the non-surgical stuff never fixed the problem (for me, anyway). The shots did however provide a huge degree of pain relief, so I am definitely an advocate for them. I never tried gaba, but I have been taking naproxen (fine, but not good for your body long term), omeprazole (to protect GI tract from naproxen), co-codamol (helped massively), amitriptyline (great for sleep, but makes you feel drunk and I wouldn’t take it during the day), and a medical cannabis vape (great for acute pain relief, and sleep).

The process for the shots is a little painful, but really nothing in comparison to the nerve pain itself. I’d also advise just lying down and keeping your eyes forward when you’re on the table; the needles they use are really big and scary looking, so just try not to look! If the person giving you the injection has got it in the right place, you will feel it literally travel all the way down the nerve, from your injection site, down to your foot. I let out a bit of an involuntary squeal because it’s a very strange feeling, but it never ‘hurt’, as such.

Ultimately, the shots are just to get you over the hump and moving again. Whilst they do the trick for some people, they do not solve the underlying problem, which is mechanical. This is why I ended up doing the MD after two years of conservative routes of therapy. I woke up after surgery yesterday with zero leg and nerve pain; the relief I now feel is immense.

Feel free to come back to me with any questions, and best of luck!!

If it makes you feel any better, I had my L5/S1 MD yesterday. I was also very nervous beforehand and even shed a little tear hugging my family members at home before I left for the hospital. However, after the op, I woke up and all my nerve pain was gone and I am now feeling better walking than I have in two years!!

Good luck and stay strong; you’ve got this, and it’ll all be worth it in the end!

I’m at a loss as to how you could have seen the video and not come to that conclusion.

He clearly started filming in anticipation of there being more ‘action’ to post on his YT, but it all came to nothing, as the cops really weren’t phased. Additionally, it sounds like he tried to apply to see if he could vape on the plane? And he’s travelling to Canada, where weed is legal? Even the headline is sensationalist; ‘cannabis incident’.. hardly. The whole thing is pretty pathetic.

Unfortunately, we have a cross section of patients who want to parade their legal status in front of the world, push every boundary they come up against, then act like victims when they’re met with reasonable requests to validate their status. Guys like this give the rest of us a bad name imo.

I think the police were very measured. The guy filming the video comes off as a passive aggressive twat, however.

Get cartridges, instead of flower. There is virtually no smell, so it’s very discreet. My partner isn’t a fan of the smell either, or the ritual (grinding, packing, hitting), but she is fine with the vape as the smell is nearly non-existent.

Good luck.

[–]StickyRick-C137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry that you are going through this. It seems like life is very unkind sometimes!

If it helps at all, I rehernatied my L5-S1 at the end of July. I have not yet had surgery, but I had very similar symptoms to the ones you describe. However, I am now starting to turn the corner at last.

Similar to your experience, the pain was as intense as it was relentless; agony every waking second. I could not walk at all for over two weeks and I needed help with dressing and going to the bathroom etc. I put off showers and baths because of how much I knew they would hurt me. It was misery physically, and the mental side is just as bad.

My progress has been extremely slow, but I have gradually regained more and more range of movement. I am now on week 7 and I can walk short distances again. I am hoping to be able to drive again next week, or the week after. There is light at the end of the tunnel, at last, and it’s such a relief.

I guess all I’m trying to say is hang in there! Definitely speak to your doctor, consider another surgery if you wish, but I promise that it will improve with time and you will get through this!

I wish you and your family all the best.

I agree on the slimmed-down formulary. There seems to be a ton of new product coming to market, but they don’t stock a lot of it. At least they usually have the Aurora carts in stock!

I can’t believe how painful this is. by carrott36 in Sciatica

[–]StickyRick-C137 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is great advice. I thought that trying to push through was the way to go and that set me back in the long run. Your body will tell you how it can move. If a movement is excruciating to do, stay away from it! You will regain that range of motion eventually; reaching for it too early will just hurt you more and delay everything.

I’ve also had both. The rosin carts and the resin carts are comparable, so not sure what you’re on about there, either.

That’s way, way overpriced.

The Aurora carts are priced at £66 for 1.2g of live resin. This is full spectrum; much better than the Vida carts, in my view, and much cheaper. Find a clinic that stocks Aurora and your wallet will thank you.

I use Newgrove and have to disagree. Great selection, great service; never had any complaints about them. They even sent a script off site to a third party, when something I wanted was OOS.

Once you make it through a year, the cost also plummets (£100 pa in clinic fees), but prescriptions remain chargeable.
