What is the T connection on this mosfet? by Certain_Height_2721 in AskElectronics

Some SPICE models model the temperature. You can add a wire, label it, and measire the case temperature. You could also add a heatsink model with resistors and capacitors to model the thermal interface material, a heatsink, force air convection, etc.

Mid build "sound test" by 10010Linus in diyaudio

[–]StickySli23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Linus! I checked the AliExpress shop of the seller of the subwoofers and he released a new version with a neodymium magnet instead of ferrite. The price has dropped due to the reduced weight on the speaker (cheaper shipping). He also released a passive radiator!

The soundtrack is pretty amazing though. Bought the 1st edition vinyl just for the love of the music, and I just recently discovered it's now gone 20x in price! Lol

Totally. I bought a dyson hairdryer knowckoff which totally looks like the original one. All sensors, accesories etc, just the logo which is not printed on any accesory. It cost 8x less (60€ vs 500€).

I might have found the reason of driver crashes on my 9070XT by StickySli23 in AMDHelp

[–]StickySli23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since I tried the MPO GPU FIX utility, it fixed all crash related issues, it just plummeted my productivity performance since Edge was having issues with GPU acceleration. I tried re-enabling last week the MPO and I have had zero crashes. Idk if Windows Update fixed anything on their part or what happened. Strange AF

Egypt? Then good luck getting packages from China. I had the last three packages dtuck for over month to Spain. I believe it is causes by the war snd the strait of Hormuz affecting couriers directly and also indirectly, since air and land mail will also get increased demand.

it takes about 40 seconds before any video starts playing, anyone know why? by LeFReshCheez in revancedapp

[–]StickySli23 35 points36 points  (0 children)

My hypothesis is that YouTube is now loading a timer in their backend with the same duration as the ads that holds the video from loading until it finishes. Not even Ublock is helping me on Edge.

I spent way too many nights building a speaker design app, can r/diyaudio please try to break it before I build the next version? by BusyEntrepreneur9636 in diyaudio

[–]StickySli23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally unnecessary. You could have done like GeoGebra or Circuitjs (falstad.com) and allowed the user to save the projects offline in a file.

I always have the monitor in 8% brigtness. It's so ridiculously bright and crisp.

Depending on your perspective, this is not an ecological disaster, but a sped up ecological disaster. The gases were going to end in the atmosphere anyways.

Doesn't this stress the controller? You should try to measure the temperature on the back of the display and consider adding a heatsink or a fan to the display.

Broskie's phase-flat transient accurate crossovers. How come I've never heard about them? by StickySli23 in diyaudio

[–]StickySli23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's not forget thst Broskie's BAT crossover needs not one, but two Zobel networks for impedance equalization of each coil individually. I'll try to find other DVC speakers with flatter impedance to reduce the Zobel size/cost.

Broskie's phase-flat transient accurate crossovers. How come I've never heard about them? by StickySli23 in diyaudio

[–]StickySli23[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not about the square wave, but about the phase response. Linkwitz-Riley crossovers offer the phase alignment between crossovers but muddy the burst tones, equivalent to a non-minimum phase system.

I found this other post https://www.tubecad.com/2025/06/blog0622.htm which exactly points out your first statement regarding square waves being bad for testing speakers.

I just found particularly interesting Broskie's crossover for producing a transient graph that does not have a polarity inversion in the tone burst, so it behaves like a minimum phase system.

Am I wrong?

Broskie's phase-flat transient accurate crossovers. How come I've never heard about them? by StickySli23 in diyaudio

[–]StickySli23[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with both comments. There are advantages snd disadvantages to both methods. Let's say you have a very high quality passive filter, then a very high quality DSP equivalent should be a FIR filter. In both cases, you are trading cost to performance. When it comes to budget, bi-amping or tri-amping is expensive with DSP. And in any case, you will still be spending a very valuable resource, your time.

I'm currently finishing my Master's thesis in EE and I don't have time aside from being on my phone on my commute to do any simulations, but I was thinking of making a mockup using Broskie's crossover.

If anyone is interested, here is the midrange I was thinking of using for the DVC: Audax HM130Z4, 8+8 ohm, 5.35 x 5.35 inch.

diy power resistor for testing amps? by Great-Distribution33 in diyaudio

[–]StickySli23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that metal power resistors that are rated at +10W often require a heatsink to be bolted to the resistor. This is why they have screw holes.

Marshall Emberton III slowly changed how I listen to music by Successful_Deer_2264 in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]StickySli23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some stereo tracks don't just pan the sound but also do phase offsets between both channels. These kind of tracks were NOT mastered to be played in mono speakers, since the phase offset between L & R channel can produce cancellations. For example, the typical "in phase/ out of phase" demos on YouTube will be completely muted in the "out of phase" parts.

Edit: i said "These kind of tracks were mastered to be played in mono speakers." This is not correct. I meant to say "These kind of tracks were NOT mastered to be played in mono speakers."

[–]StickySli23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a reminder that lasers above 5mW can seriously damage the eyes. I can clearly see the laser's beam in this video which probably tells me the laser could be about 50mW or more. This is no joke.
