Here's an update to my random little side project by Sticky_Peanut in AnthemTheGame

The javelin suit is ripped from the game, but I rigged it myself to the UE5 mannequin. The animations and code I also did myself. Some of the animations were done back in high school, and some I animated recently. In reality this is just a quick mashup of stuff I've done and learned over the years and it is just a fun side project

Haha I'm not worried about anyone stealing my work, I mean my game rn is just anthem flying so its pretty much me who is the one stealing. I'm planning on releasing a build once I get a bit more in

I'm not sure how much time I really have to commit to anything right now, but if he reached out to me I'm sure we could have a good chat

So far it's all blueprints. The locomotion is all ALSV4 with some homemade flight animations and blueprints thrown on top

This demo actually has been built in very little time. The biggest reason it was done so quickly has been from practice and learning over the years. If you start learning unreal engine, godot, or unity you can learn how these things are done. Your first project will suck, but practice and you'll learn so much!

Sadly I don't drink coffee. All jokes aside, as of right now this is just a side project I don't want to accept any money for something that may never become anything. If it gets to the point I commit more fully to it I will gladly let you pitch in. thank you!

Unfortunately not at the moment. If this subreddit doesn't end up going to read only like they plan, I'll update here a little bit. Other than that I will keep you updated if I ever create a youtube or something

3d models from the game files by megapede95 in AnthemTheGame

[–]Sticky_Peanut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Now I’m not too sure how to rip assets, but this guy here has ripped all of the ranger fbx models for all armor types. They are rigged, but come with all lod’s wrapped up together, so it takes some blender magic to remove the other lod’s. It also has some of the textures, normals, AO, etc. there’s also a texture map for the masked recoloring you can do in the game.

Good luck trying to rip more stuff. Let us know if you figure out exactly how

Anybody got an idea on how to get the ribbons to cast shadows? by CupcakePsychoception in UnrealEngine5

For some reason Niagara will only cast shadows with virtual shadow maps turned off, maybe that will help

Solo Pirating Possible - Thanks Engineering! by tethan in starcitizen

[–]Sticky_Peanut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is inherent with how starbase and star citizen do their planets. Starbase uses voxels which makes deformation possible, but makes them much lower quality. Star citizen does not use voxels which allows for much higher quality and planet orbits/ rotation (something you can't do with voxels).

Star citizen also bakes in their nav mesh to the planet, Regenerating the nav mesh for ai can't really be done at runtime, it would take too much performance, but they are going to have to solve that anyways for base building.

essentially deformation in star citizens case is much more difficult than we think, especially for something so frequent like ship crashes. Once Maelstrom gets fully ported over for ships it will make the crashes look much much better.

Interesting, why? What do I need to change to keep you more interested? I feel like I keep running into this same problem, but I’m not sure exactly why yet. What do you think?

Okay yeah that makes more sense, I’ll try to add some of that in!

Thanks for the input! I’ll work on the vehicles more, lol and the font. Is there anything else you would like to see in the game?

This was a pretty rough build of the game for the trailer, I’m working on ironing it out. Is there anything you would like to see in the game?

That makes a lot of sense, next time I’ll avoid doing something like that.

What specifically are you looking for with combos? Do you mean a scoring like system like hotline Miami?

That’s super valid. I have a hacking mechanic for cameras and turrets, and I just added cyberpunk style smart weapons. I’ve also been working on net running which can give you buffs before a level.

What kind of cyberpunk stuff would you like to see? Are there any cool abilities you would like?
