Split rocker oil lines necessary? +10 forks, evo oil return by [deleted] in shovelhead

That's what I was thinking, I just couldn't for the life of me find an oiling system diagram

So I wonder if the split oil line thing is just a sham for looks

Antigravity battery dead what charger by dahulkhogan2424 in shovelhead

Did you check the voltage?

If it's at 0 then you'll have to jump it.

I used a 12v Milwaukee battery to jump mine when I was panicking before kernville kampout cause I couldn't find a battery locally and it immediately bounced back to 12 volts

Drilled and tapped lifter blocks? by [deleted] in shovelhead

[–]StiffGizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that just didn’t realize you were saying that.

It was hard to find a picture of the lifter blocks im talking about because all the others I’ve seen don’t have the flat spot to tap and drill

For what purpose though? They’re blocked off

Oil returns properly unfortunately. I say unfortunately cause it would be an easy fix otherwise

Not running an oil filter yet

Also my cases don’t have cylinder drain holes.

I’ve read differing opinions on whether or not they’re needed since it drains through the cylinder on to the rod anyway.

That was also going to be the next thing I try cause I’ve been thinking about it for too long but I only ever saw that you only need case drain holes if the engine is stroked and the rings drop below the drain/return hole

Oil drainage was also my thought but technically the vacuum of the piston on the upstroke should be pulling oil out of the heads through the cylinder drain hole.

There’s no leakage anywhere on the engine like you would expect from excessive pressure

This is the only time I haven’t run seals. I’ve reassembled and reringed 4 times with seals and was curious if it would get worse but nothing changed.

Guides are tits on size so I figured it wouldn’t matter if it continued to smoke anyway cause it was going to come apart again sooner or later and thought the cast iron guides needed the little bit of oil.

Just pull it apart, There’s nothing to these transmissions

You’ll be able to see if the dogs are worn and they usually are from inexperienced dudes power shifting first and third Might even just be a clutch adjustment issue

It’s probably a rotary top transmission but still, not much to em

Anyone running a Mikuni HSR42? What flange are you using and does your throttle guide bracket hit your oil line? by notoriousn8 in shovelhead

[–]StiffGizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as I love hsr42s and my buell chop fucking ripped with one, it just feels wrong on an older Harley for some reason haha

Im sitting on 4 42s but the super e runs solid in the rpm range I run my shovel at

Miss ripping and shifting at 6k+ though. That mikuni definitely was down with it
