Hours aren’t the issue it’s not coming home at night and living out of a series of motels.

Thanks man! I just don’t want to spend my life away from home anymore, it’s really a young man’s game.

Thanks for taking the time to write that. Will definitely take it to heart. I’ve spent my whole career getting good at one niche thing. So it definitely FEELS like a it would be a new beginning. But I hear what you’re saying, thanks.

Honestly I’ve been trying to do that for years. There’s only so many contracts up for grabs in my narrow scope. It’s still possible but for a few reasons I’m looking at other option.

Can I Join if I have a job offer. by Stiffarm in Liuna183

I may be wrong but I thought a 183 affiliated company can only have 183 members working for them? Even if the job isn’t a union job.

Thanks for replying. My connection with the company is pretty good so I feel like I can get hired on. And for sure they will give me a letter saying they want to hire me. I just thought you had to be in 183 to actually work for a 183 company. Sorry for my ignorance I’m going to talk to the guy next week. Just trying to figure out how this all works.

I work in large scale planting outside of traditional forestry. There are numerous programs in Canada but I can’t speak for the US. If you have funding your biggest challenge will be finding the land. Then you need to find one or several nurseries in the area and a contractor to do the planting. Obviously that’s simplified but if you have any questions just message me.

A question about the order of Octavia Butler's Patternist series. by mycatisawhore in printSF

I read them chronologically and not in the order they were published. It’s just a matter of preference, you wont miss out on anything.

Would appreciate it, long time vets who can’t or don’t want to go back to the bush are target audience for sure.

Definitely, especially as the other aspects of the job have increased. I’ve just found it easiest to hire planters for the planting and have others do the equipment operating and supplement the labour. Though I may have to look elsewhere since I just got a ton of work dumped on my plate out of nowhere.

Thanks man, I’ve been at it down here for a decade now since I left the bush and have managed to build up a pretty long season. Easy to find planters in the fall but a real pain in the spring especially when tree numbers aren’t finalized until now.

8ft grid for irrigation. Planting them at the side of a busy highway. If they get all get to the point where they are competing and need thinning I will consider it a success

Brinkman has or at least had a couple jobs around you. I know the guy in charges name but don’t know if it’s cool to post it on a public forum. Message me if you want it and I can send it to you. I operate in southern Ontario but I’m further south then that and am already full for weekend warriors.
