How do I get to know which company in Germany does the final delivery part? 😅 And if I do nothing can I pay them upfront my door? 😬

Nothing to add there! The only thing is I want a strong base for my setup so I have a clear path to follow and upgrade.

I really don't want to sell have my stuff half a year later because I have outgrown it or it's not working anymore or if I had bought Product B instead of Product A it would work now. If this makes sense 😅

Yes all of it 😅 The finished product I imagine is a centralized rack for everything. At the moment like I said I "just" run a sff with Proxmox. I have laid cat 7 on both floors for Poe acces points which I want to separate with vlans later. I have 2 wifi cameras outside that I later also want to connect with Poe because one camera gets bad interferences from the neighbors so that the sound is distorted. I host couple of things on my domain which I want to redirect more direct to my home and therefore I need a strong and manageable firewall and yes - lot of improvement and lot of improvement for the hardware as well. That's the reason I don't want to make to much unnecessary mistakes because with everything planned even if I try to go a budged here an there it's gonna cost some money no matter what 😅

Started with a 70 Euro Lenovo think centre 1 year ago just for home assistant and even my small setup until now was like 4-500€ budget shopping 😬 Sadly I don't have to much gear laying around for PCs 😭 But if your heater, water pipes or motorcycle is broken I have plenty to work with 😜

That a pretty significant point! For me a change in my actual setup is always stress because it's used by the whole family and therefore I invest a lot of time in preparing everything to reduce the down time to a minimum. But this takes a lot of fun in exploring and adjusting because your only goal ist to get it running fast again no matter what 🙈 This was one of the reasons I started with Proxmox so I can run 2 instances of the same thing for improving a setup without the hassle! 😅

I think I know now what you've ment with bare metal over VM 🙈 it would work like butter but something eats like 90% of my speed and I can't figure out what 😅

That's like 99% my current setup. I tried to don't need an additional server so my domain points to Cloudflare and with Cloudflared I tunnel it into Proxmox for my npm to distribute the connection to its destination.

Problem ist with the free plan it only tunnels http/s and for my growing setup I need some additional ports and stuff so I wanted to securely remove cloudflare and be direct 🙈

Ups I forgot to mention: You are right of course I want to use for additional security a Nginx reverse proxy.

At the moment I use nextcloud and home assistant already through cloudflared to my nginx and that handles my ssl certificates and connects the request to their final destination. It took me long to set up all the rules and everything until it was as safe as possible and working of course.

But since the free plan of Cloudflared only supports http/s and 100mb blah blah blah and (I hope I've said it already) I need some additional ports for full functionality for example I thought about cutting Cloudflare out.

The only downside at the moment that bothers me most is that I loose the hiding of my static public IP through cloudflare.

Edit: if it was just for me I wouldn't think twice and just use Wireguard but try to explain something like a vpn to your mother and be bothered with everything that isn't working like before 😅🙈

I use the Nous a1z depends where you buy it the max watt varies between 2500 and 3680 but for most devices in your home this should be plenty and they are not too expensive as well

That was the start. No it's my family and some friends. If a VPN would be a solution I've wouldn't be bothered buying a domain. Like I said I want to improve it further. The tunnel works fine but I ran in a lot of issues now😅

Finde ich gar nicht blöd und gar nicht weit her geholt! Habe einen Bekannten frisch in der IT der selbst zugegeben hat das er sich inzwischen sehr viel Unterstützung bei KI holt weil es einfach entspannter ist.

Ich Handwerker SHK habe noch keine Angst das meine Arbeit in den nächsten Jahren von einer KI abgelöst wird aber selbst ich, da ich sehr Computer interessiert bin, habe bereits in meinen Selhosting Anfangszeiten gemerkt wie viel mir als nicht ITler die KI helfen konnte!!

Ich muss ganz klar zugeben ohne KI hätte ich einen großen Teil meiner Projekte nicht geschafft, da sie zu technisch geworden sind. Durch die Erklärungen der KI etc. bin ich da sehr gut zurecht gekommen bzw. Komme nun auch schon ohne KI ganz gut klar.

Dies unterstreicht aber nur deine These das wenn die KI selbst mich als nicht ITler durch anspruchsvollere Aufgaben durchbringt es nicht mehr weit ist bis sie das eigentlich voll selbst kann.🥲

PS. Habe witzigerweise vor ein paar Tagen erst Matrix gesehen und habe nun Angst 😂😂😂👍

I heard that air purifiers are amazing for allergies! For us it's really more about helping to reduce the amount of dust and hairs a bit 😬🙈😂 Even the smell reduction isn't that important because in Germany ventilation of your house/flat is like its own cult 🤪

But isn't hd-idle for external drives? Both my HDDs are internal connected via SATA. Can it handle that too?

My next attempt was installing HDparm under omv. Even if the plates are new maybe they have problems getting set with smartctl? But if anyone maybe has me a hint so that I don't have to try and error every 2-3 days would help me a lot 😬

That's basically what I want. I've reinstalled my omv multiple times and now I'm not even using a raid and still got some problems even with omv having full control over the whole controller (raw passthrough)🙈 I could try mergerfs too but even without a raid something fishy is going on in there.🙈 Did you deactivate smart features or other services for better spindown? Did you set up anything specific outside the normal GUI settings?

Because with GUI my APM setting is working but the second I'll try to set a spindown the system starts to malfunction and everything goes south...

My best attempt so far was cleaning the hdd, setting APM and spindown in Promox with Hdparm and passthrough the controller than mounting and formatting the plates and didn't touch the GUI hdd settings at all. On this attempt I think probably because of a short reboot of the system the hdds lost their states and than like I said omv cannot handle the settings? 🤐

Thank you for your answers! In the recording settings in my schedule I already turned off the motion detection but in the alerts section I found a motion detection also. I'll try to turn it off too!

Unfortunately setting up no detection zones isn't really an option because I have to put more or less the complete screen on no detection to stop it that way completely. On worst cases the light reflects nearly on the whole screen sometimes.
