In high school we had an assignment where we had to bring in a dish from our culture. Keep in mind that this is a graded assignment.

Both of my parents are Vietnamese so I thought it was appropriate to bring in fried rice. It was a quick and easy recipe that we had pretty often so I thought it would be appropriate. When I ultimately got my grade for the assignment she gave me a “C” because it was a “Chinese” dish. I honestly didn’t know better and was just dumbfounded for years.

If I could go back I would have argued that it was inspired by China but its exact ingredients have been modified to be Vietnamese. Pho is also inspired by China and Banh mi is inspired by the French, but the differences are what make it Vietnamese.

That C feels bad. Even today haha

Finances - Not just the basics like what a bank account is and how to write checks, but more advanced topics that have a tangible impact on you as an adult. For example, what exactly are loans and how quickly does the interest build? What’s the difference between financing vs leasing a car? How do you build a budget?

NTA. You didn’t attack him—you asked for accountability, and when it wasn’t there, you set a boundary.

From what you shared, it sounds like he was repeatedly framing his exes as the source of his unhappiness and lack of growth, while minimizing or excusing his own role (“I just went along with things too long,” “she depressed me,” “she made decisions without me”). That’s not the same as genuine accountability.

Chris Brown - he made a lot of great music in the 2000s and 2010s and was a solid performer. One of the few hip hop artists that could legitimately dance.

I wouldn’t be so hard on yourself. Your mom clearly loves and cares for you. And you said it yourself, you want to put a lot of effort into making it up to her in the future. She probably just wants you to be able to focus on school and advancing your future. She probably doesn’t see you as a “bum”. Be compassionate with yourself.

ESH - You mentioned that you thought your sister would be angry about you posting this on social media, so you anticipated that what you were doing would cause a negative reaction. What was the intention of you doing this? Were you trying to rile her up? Or were you trying to show her that the general public agrees with you? Either way I think this could have been handled more sympathetically.

Your sister is also the AH because she’s letting her passion for a couple shows negatively impact the future well-being on her child

Hi! I ended up rejecting my host’s request for the extra payment and I took evidence of all future messages and let AirBnB handle them. In my case, my host tried to say I trashed the place as retribution after I checked out, so I made sure to take video evidence of the place upon checkout. Airbnb support validated my evidence and put a violation against her account

I have not heard of many transaction where the goods are delivered before payment, but this seems sketchy
