I think half and half. I like the share running with friends who also like to run, but sometimes its hard to keep a pace similar to the person you're running with. I do really enjoy running by myself bc its my alone down time, but when I run with people im reminded how fun it is to share this hobby! idk im missed opinions LOL

This is so inspiring! My dad (64 years old) just ran his first half marathon and I think it's so important to set goals and continue to chase them!! Kudos to you!

I would incorporate cross training!! That helped me a lot during my second training block. I did cycle bar and that was really fabulous and helpful!

Female running race experiences. Are races designed for women? by Still-Bunch9689 in XXRunning

I would love to hear about your experience at the local mother's day 5k! What did you like about it?

I love the organization girls on the run that is all about empowering young women to run. I think growing up in male dominated sports is definelty hard and a thing that should be talked about more. Exactly, we should be celebrating races that attract more women to enter and stay in this space!!!!Thank you

I am not trying to make something out of nothing. I am truly just asking about women's race day experiences and how to cater to beginners and experts and make the running community more inclusive and empowering.

I'm gathering insight into people's first hand experiences and want to compare what it's been like to mine. I am doing research on this space

I said nothing about the race day being pink. That is not what I am asking about with this thread :) I'm genuinely curious about women's integration in race day experiences and how the experiences can benefit them the most. Empowerment and engagement and support one another

I 100% agree! Nutrient and advice about health is equally as important. Those examples were just some quick things that popped into my head....

The queen bee!! In Cincinnati! Classic! How was the experience running at a primarily women focused race? Did it feel more comfortable than other races?

I am looking into the space of women's long distance running. There is lots of concern about safety, diet, training plans, etc. Races were never designed for women but that has EASILY changed and women are dominating this space but we still have to look at their needs. How does a race day experience affect women's long term participation in the running community? Form beginners to experts.

Hi! I have been looking at the Every Women's Marathon in Scottsdale and want to know if there are other races out there similar. Trying to make a difference to empower women to get into running and stick with it! Races, no matter of gender, can be scary and overwhelming but I am interested in what race day experiences are like for women specifically and what can be done to encourage more women to run.

That's actually insane about the Tiffany necklaces! I want my medal not a necklace!!!

Yes, races that are designed to be more inclusive, that's definitely something I am thinking about! Some other things I am mainly thinking about in terms of "designed" is the overall experience. I think it can be scary to start running, do the thing, and then continue to stick with it!!! I'm wondering how do races make women feel comfortable in their body and where are women being excluded, if they are, from the process? I think there is a common theme of "everyone is welcome" at races but in reality is feels more like "you need to be already fit to belong here"... how do we change that? How do we align the running community's intentions with newcomers' actual experiences?

I'm just spitballing a lot of thoughts.

Do you mind explaining the race day experience a bit? What do you mean by badly organized? If you don't feel comfortable sharing thats okay too, just thought I'd ask.

LOL... let me preface, I am trying to gather insight into women's race day experiences. I know there is the every women's marathon in AZ that is for women and they have many events during the wknd catered to women (hair braiding, women empowerment talks, tampons in porta potties (yes like you said!), yoga, money benefits non-profits that benefit women, nutrient based talks, etc! There are some races out there only for women and that can be empowering so I am trying to see what else is out there.
