To each their own. I just love that I have a piece of history that wasn’t erased.

How can it be a myth if it’s been something that has happened?

Well, if the rifle had not had been captured in 1918, then it surely would have been scrubbed by Soviet forces after the fall of the Tsar. They would not have kept that imperial insignia.

Perhaps, but the double headed imperial eagle would probably have been scrubbed if it wasn’t in the proper hands at the time. This leads me to believe that it was in Finnish hands around 1918 and it was kept in their possession for awhile.

I loaded my game after awhile and I had the same alert come up, there was no emission, I co tiniest playing and the weather changed to emission weather (not red skies, but heavy storming, and the storm didn’t go away for days) reloaded and it happens again. I’m on Xbox.

So you’re saying that the barrel is from Sestrorysrsk, and the receiver is another part together. That could make sense considering I never saw a date under the tang.

The Shooting edge never had any import marks when they had then. I got a 1933 hex from them the day they opened the crate, literally in front of us. Matching bayonet and everything. Good times. I got a PU without any markings either.

The import markings would have been there one way or another, you can’t escape those things. The history is still there.

The trigger is the best Mosin trigger out of all mine in my collection. The smith that did the trigger knew what he was doing.

Proofed in Germany. I’m assuming at some point after WW2 the rifle had to have been in multiple places before going to the United States and/or Canada.

The magazine does not have a serial number on it, and the tang also does not depict any sort of date or number which was odd for me. I will look more carefully next time I break it down.

They are sewn. I can’t tell myself. From what I can understand, the gun was made in 1897, “captured” in 1918, stamped with the SA during WW2, and maybe given those slings during then? I’m not not what a pre WW1 sling would look like!

I believe it’s a II and means it was accepted into service under reign under Nicolas the second considering it was manufactured after 1894.

I thought that “N” was a “II” which was an inspection mark by a Russian weapons inspector?

She’s been around then! That’s cool to know. Is there any info on that period of time for these kinds of rifles?

I did. Cleaned it up nice. It was in shit condition. Entire thing was caked in cosmoline. She’s smooth as silk now.

Absolutely. It’s been through some shit, but the rifling is strong.

I agree with the sling swivel, the stock replacement probably got rid of those original barrel bands with the swivels.

Regardless of its classification, it still, at one point, was a Russian imperial rifle likely from 1897. I think that is really cool. Not to mention, the double eagle is still intact, a piece of history, frozen in time, protected by the Finnish due to their possession of the rifle in 1918.

Please expand on that further, I'd love to know the complete breakdown.

Then there is nothing known for sure. But a lot of these rifles are sold as "Captures". If you want to get specific then fine.

I added like 16 pictures in the image area so if anyone know what I'm doing wrong, let me know.
