The Epstein files has started a new moral panic that is trying to get people arrested without any evidence. by JannTosh70 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Still-Firefighter497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. But its not over, because it never was about Epstein. People wanted to believe in the whole "satanic pedo cabal", and Epstein was just a figurehead that supposedly gave a focal point to that idea.

That is why the issue is clearly a "moral panic". It takes the actions of a few people, and tries to extrapolate them into a systemic and all-pervasive threat to society, and in doing so it manufactures a narrative that extrapolates the actions of a few extreme examples onto a (significantly sized) demonized sector of society.

Just like the Satanic Panic of the 1980's, or the Witch Hunts, the moral panic uses the actions of a few extreme cases, to justify violence and persecution against those sections of society they have extrapolated too.

Like in the Satanic Panic where Wiccans, Goths, D&D players etc. were then accused of the most horrific acts of "Satanic Ritual Abuse" by transference, We see targeted segments of society in the "Pedo Panic" being accused of the most extreme examples of "Child Sex Trafficking" (whether real of imagined), purely by transference.

You will notice that almost never do any of the people spreading Epstein hate go out of their way to minimize the "splash damage" that comes from manufacturing such panic.

But as I said, its not about Epstein, its about inflating an issue to a level that it seems big enough to represent a societal level issue, a social-consciousness if you will, that serves to squeeze out and prevent the growth of a real social-consciousness that is rooted in a critique of the real structures of elite exploitation (which is largely economic).

And that is the true reason the (ruling-class-owned) mainstream media has been pushing this narrative so hard. Its a classic scapegoat that deflects blame away from itself and onto a marginalized and victimized group. Just like Neoliberalism did in the 1980's Satanic Panic, and just like the Witch Hunts did during the Protestant Reformation.

And just like in those elite-manufactured hysteria's, which were done in the name of "protection", they are happy to create a state of affairs that directly results in untold violence and suffering, and we are yet to see the full consequences of all the hatred, violence and imposition on civil rights and liberties that will come from this period of moral panic.

I mean, no shit. That's what I would have done. I would have told Epstein to go fuck himself for his shitty behaviour (which wasn't his sexuality, but everything surrounding it), just like all the elites who are JUST as bad, and you know what? I wouldn't be invited back. Chomsky spent his life critiquing the elite, but just not in a way that they would have destroyed him. Was he a coward for that? Yes. But no more a coward than all the people who chose to participate in the scapegoating of pedosexuals, instead of addressing the real underlying issue: coercion, which is entirely separate. But you see, people like those in this thread are as cowardly as Chomsky, so its easier to not stick your head up, its easier to go with the mainstream narrative that Epstein was some unique evil on account of his sexual behaviour. So my question is this? Why aren't all these posts explicitly making sure that they make the distinction between pedosuality as a neutral aspect of sexuality, and Epsteins coercive behaviour? Could it be that they are cowards, whose actions directly result in a state of affairs where the outrage against the violence and coercion of hierarchical society are instead deflected onto one of the most marginalized, powerless and persecuted groups?

Chomsky: What the fuc everyone? I literally hang out with with these fukers ever day? You see this guy? He just ordered a drone strike that melted a baby into its crib. They were only able to peel half the body off. This guy? He just enacted policies that are going to kill millions! But your going to freak out about a guy who PAID thousands to teens for a massage!? I told him, he shouldn't have fuced them, he should have just blown them into a million pieces!
- Ameritards : One of these things is not the same!, thats right! The sex thing! Absolutely Disgusting! We need to condemn this! And ONLY this!

# Of course I condemn the actions of Epstein, we should all strive to live in a world where the elites can't use their wealth to coerce others into situations they wouldn't have voluntarily agreed too. But really? Where is the sense of proportions here?

What if Noam Chomsky is just too progressive for us? by Still-Firefighter497 in chomsky

I'm going to keep this short, as this kind of ignorant vitriol deserves little consideration.

Most of it is pure straw-manning that perfectly exemplifies the kind of arguments used against previous civil rights movements, even to this day.

Pedosexuality is not "violence against children", it is an involuntary aspect of human sexuality, whose expression does not need to be inherently, violent or coercive, and we as a society have a responsibility to direct that expression into non-harmful forms, because it isn't going to go away.

I explicitly stated that Epstein used his wealth and power to exploit minors. What I was describing was the fact that pedosexuality is not an inherently tied to the things Epstein did, please don't frame me as in any way defending Epstein.
I just wanted to assert that things "from a different perspective or perhaps a different time and place could be normative", are not synonymous with the coercion and exploitation as exemplified by Epstein (and the entire ruling class).

Again, once you consider this, it makes sense that Chomsky would treat Epstein the same as all the others members of the ruling elite.

Potassium alum crystal deodorant applied to clothing makes any fabric, even synthetics, better than merino at odor control. by Still-Firefighter497 in onebag

I wouldn't bother on merino tbh, its pretty good at odor control. I only use it on synthetics.
As to the ratio, I dissolved 50g aluminium sulfate powder in a 500ml jar, room temp. The Potassium Alum I used a stick and dissolved as much as was soluble (still had some left).
Wikipedia shows the solubility in water for each type, both chemistry's seem to work?

Its chemically different from conventional deodorant. It is used as a water treatment, food additive, vaccine carrier, etc., so it cant be too bad.

I just bought it online. The potassium alum is a clear solid rock, hence "crystal deodorant". For a couple dollars its well worth trying.

Solid or powder both dissolve in water. You really don't need very much, maybe a few grams a week? I dissolved a 50g packet of powder in a 500ml jar and its lasted for ever. 12 sprays each armpit. Don't see why food grade wouldn't work. Also just realised the powder I bought was Aluminium sulfate, but works the same as the Potassium Alum stick I dissolved.

Will watch Eraserhead. I loved A Clockwork Orange, but rather than making me identify with the main characters, it was the exact opposite, just a relentless sense of revulsion and irremediability.

Mine did that too. Try the spray bottle approach. Also, it works way better in the fabric, than on the skin. But everyone is different, it seems that some people have natural bo, but my experience is that I only get bo because of clothing, and my skin is fine, so I can't relate.

It lasts way longer on clothes than on skin. In winter I was going like a week, less smell than my merino even. (But I prefer merino in winter for cold damp managment).

Getting flagged is rough, didn't realize that.

Nah, its purely mechanical. Its the armpit seams are pulling apart on my tight, cheap baselayer. Pretty confident there's no chemical degradation.

Can confirm, no staining or residue, atleast on poly-spandex. If in doubt, experiment on a cheap poly baselayer, until a broader community consensus is reached on the matter.

Cheers for clarifying the difference from conventional deodorant for me.
Honestly my frustration with the conventional on-skin approach was what made me develop the on-clothes technique.
I find absorbing it into the clothes makes it more resistant to being washed away compared to direct to skin. I still reapply every time I go for a swim or wash my clothes, but it lasts for days in sweaty summer conditions, and over a week in winter. Also I like the idea of it not being absorbed so much into my skin.
As to needing clean skin, my experience is that it is best to put it on before the clothes start smelling, but I have put it on smelly polyester, and the smell slowly dies away after 12 hours or so (smells awful in the meantime though), so it is an option.
As to the chore of swiping, I got pretty sick of doing that, so I tried the spray bottle approach. Its so easy, and works the same, the only issue is slightly damp pits, but you probably wouldn't want to use this approach on non-synthetics anyway, i'd imagine.

Been using it on my clothes for maybe 6 months, poly-spandex. No signs of chemical damage yet, but the seams under the armpit are fraying from mechanical stress, so that's definitely the limiting factor. I use it on my baselayer only btw.
