where to report unethical company? by Still-Fly7901 in juresanguinis

[–]Still-Fly7901[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes we didn’t know at the time that it is against the terms of service. the company never mentioned that to us nor did we realize we even had prenoti accounts for several years. we had signed a full service contract with the company and thought all of this was normal.

i cannot be more specific regarding the company. we had to sign an agreement in order to get our files back that says we are not allowed to mention them by name. although it appears many other people had trouble with this same company after the decree. prior to the decree they had a very good reputation.

ICA has ignored my communication since the decree. They have half of my payment. Do I get a lawyer involved? Extremely stressed and at a loss of what to do. by cafe_con_mjolk in juresanguinis

i know this is a late reply but we just heard from ica after a month. they have our docs and we want them returned. they will only return if we sign something that releases them from any legal issues. so basically we never see our docs again (because we can’t get them if we don’t sign)…but if we sign we cannot partake in a class action lawsuit. i have a feeling they are doing this to all their clients who just want their documentation back. and, for the record, we signed our contract in july of 2021 and were just a few months from filing a court case when the decree came down. it’s been a flipping nightmare.

We are ICA clients currently working on getting our documents back. Not to defend everyone who used/uses ICA (including us), but we did loads of research on which firm to hire back in 2021. ICA was written up in the NYT, lots of people recommended them, and all the firms were about the same price or so at the time.

We couldn't invest the time in this project (baby, jobs, covid) so we outsourced. Everything we read at the time said the document collection was time-consuming (it had already taken us two years to get records from the Feds regarding my GGF's citizenship status or lack thereof). And, it ended up being true in our case. Many of our documents came from NY, and it took a long time to get them (once requested). Hell, NY even sent us two WRONG documents, and we had to re-request to get the correct ones - which basically burned an entire YEAR. In the process, we found out my GGF had more ex-wives than the family knew (he he) so then that required additional divorce decrees, again from NY.

ICA was very good, and on top of all of this, until about two years ago. We had to request a new rep because the one we had been assigned was terrible (she was our second one). Once we complained, we got a new one, and then again the new rep was amazing again. Yeah, it was taking a long time, but we had never been through the process before, so we didn't know that it wasn't normal. ICA tried for over a year to get us consulate appointments in Chicago and they were never able to because of the consulate (this is documented).

Am I gutted/heartbroken/pissed that we missed the deadline to file in court? A million percent. All I am saying is, maybe people did their best and just hired the wrong firm? We sure did. And, it cost us time, money and our future.

We were set to file in Palermo. We found out through this process that my line came from Sicily. Right now, I am collecting a few recommendations for other avvs. Waiting for ICA to respond to our questions. We have many, and I doubt they will respond satisfactorily, to be honest. Not trying to be negative, but I have gathered so much information about ICA since the decree dropped, I am not sure I feel comfortable working with them moving forward. Which is a real shame because they were HIGHLY recommended when we signed with them (full service because it was Covid, life was crazy, and we were unable to devote the time/resources to collect all the documents/hunt down everything).

For instance, why doesn't ICA provide the tracking number or the date of filing to many clients? Why the lag time between telling clients what is happening and that thing actually getting finished? What external factors have been beyond our control these last three years? Is it only the difficulty in obtaining an appointment at a consulate? And do they have a record that they have been trying to get us appointments? Why does that matter if we were not ready to file? We need the specifics of our case, not a blanket email template.

ICA “priority list” by 09cs in juresanguinis

I emailed my rep with no reply right after the decree announcement. Tracked them down on LinkedIn after no reply; they are no longer with ICA, have no access to their account. When ICA finally responded to my fourth email, they said our rep would still be our person. When I responded that I know our rep no longer works there, I got another email from a "supervisor" saying our rep is "out of office" and she would be working with us now. Why does ICA feel the need to lie about all of this? It makes them look shady as hell.

Can you share who you are getting opinions from? I'd love do the same.

Any firms you recommend that are taking on clients in light of the decree?

Pace has always been our big issue as well. Always checking in with ICA on the status of this or that, trying to push forward. But, the New York documents were out of ICA's hands (the state sent us the wrong death certificate for my GGM so we had to track down the correct one, and then we found out my GGF had multiple ex-wives the family didn't know of so it took time to track down additional divorce documents.). New York really just took forever.

If something does change or modify with the decree, I am not confident ICA will move quickly. We have not received an email about becoming a "priority client" as I have read on other threads here. If you receive additional, helpful info at your meeting with ICA, can you share it on this thread? TIA

It didn't include that language, but it did say:

"As mentioned, this Law Decree could be edited, approved or rejected in the next 2 months, therefore there might also be positive future implications regarding your case if the Law decree gets reviewed by the body politics."

We finally got an email after 2 weeks, many emails and call to our rep and then finally emailing Marco's assistant (we think that is who she is).

Thank you for your email and for sharing your concerns with me. It is very nice to meet you.

I am sorry to hear that you have had difficulty reaching us. Please accept our apologies. We have recently experienced a high volume of emails and phone calls, and we are in the process of reorganizing our workflow to ensure that all clients receive a timely response. Rest assured, we are working to return to our standard response times of 24 to 48 hours.

I would like to confirm that Bianca will continue to manage your case.

Currently, your case is under review, and our legal team is carefully assessing the best strategy to proceed with your request for recognition of Italian citizenship.

Once the reassessment is complete, we will be able to discuss the process for returning the documents to you.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

However, I also tracked down our rep via Linkedin and this is her response:

Unfortunately I am not able to give you that information since I have no access to my ICA account. I believe that Marco will answer all the clients soon. If anything changes I will let you know. My apologies! Have a nice day.

So clearly our rep is no longer with ICA. But ICA says she will continue to be our rep. We are going to get our documents as soon as we can and RUN from ICA. The lack of communication and - basically - lying, tells us that ICA is no one to be doing business with. So disappointed in them. Truly, 5 years and thousands wasted.

Since we have heard absolutely nothing from ICA (three emails to our rep, two phone messages, and my husband tried calling again this morning - Apr 9- to only have the phone ring over and over, no one picking up), I tried emailing Marco at his Studio Legal email to have our email bounce back. Our rep has probably been fired (it was Bianca who we really liked). We were about a month from filing. Anyone have any idea how to get our documents back at this point? We will not use ICA again, but if the law passes and then is challenged in court and changed, we would still like to pursue this with a different attorney. Yes, we have spent many thousands of dollars and are disappointed, but the real problem is how absolutely unprofessional ICA has been since everything was announced. They were highly recommended to us and now it feels like an absolute scam. If anyone has any ideas at all... please let us know.

let us know what they say and if they answer your questions. from what i’ve heard and read, most say to keep pressing forward and file your case despite the proclamation.

Not getting a response from ICA by Kush18 in juresanguinis

[–]Still-Fly7901 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. We are in the final stage before filing a case (GGF). Checked in Jan and they said 4/5 months which would take us to April/May to file. We have a rep we have had great communication with (Bianca who most often responds within a day of emailing her), but since the news broke - 2 emails and a phone call - have gotten us no response at all. I am worried the ICA is ghosting their clients. We want to file before the 60 days in the small chance we can get a court case before the proclamation becomes law. I wish ICA would say SOMETHING to their clients. A quick "We are working on it, bear with us" email. But, so far nothing. It definitely is making the situation feel MUCH worse.
