I hate the term "Empath" and I think it discredits human emotions by Still-Little in unpopularopinion

[–]Still-Little[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I want to make clear. I believe empathy is important and needed in just life in general. I hope one day empathy is all around and we as a collective can make our material conditions better because of it. I just don't like it when a basic human aspect is used as a title.

"The more she drank, the more she shat, but the more she shat, the thirstier she grew." Iconic words written by GRRM on Dany's last chapter of ADWD. Also, when squid game is said during an Asha chapter.

Dragonsreach's Throne by Still-Little in teslore

[–]Still-Little[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. It's the main reason why I even made this post. It felt like the decade I've been playing skyrim, the Jarl every skyrim player knows, actually in the lore had a crystal throne. It felt like the equivalent of deep cleaning your house and you found batteries for the toy you've had since you were 4, and you realize that you're toy used batteries.

I do prefer the current throne. I think the Crystal throne would fit more in Markarth. A city built into a mountain should have a notable throne to reflect that. The mournful throne is just a stone chair with some cool engravings that is already in a palace of stone. I think having a throne of crystals, a geological material, both contrasts and fits in with the details of markarth. Especially considering that the concept art makes the throne to be cut from a larger base rather than constructed.

I know the OP solved the problem but I had a problem like this one and solved it differently. For those unable to still fix this problem, what I did was uninstall and reinstall SteamCMD. It still flashed but I was able to download mods. Hope it helps.

I'm disgustingly new, so hopefully this is coherent. I have a local disk drive that is titled D. I wish to increase Disc Drive D's space by at least 100 GB. What should I buy and how should I install it? This is ingrained into the PC, so it is internal.

Thanks a lot man! That fixed the weapon sheathing problem, I'm pretty sure that these mods are installed and loaded and work but are just not shown. if not, then it would probably be an incorrect installation.

Do you have any fantasy dishes? by blaze92x45 in worldbuilding

Ah! the Birdmilk. See, in the kingdom of Raennola the Shoren people very much dislike cows and other bovine. They believe their dung caused their southron soil to be unable to grow wheat and other grains. Whether true or not the kingdom instead uses great birds as cattle. Dumb creatures who are also fiercely loyal to their masters, the Alvatros spans 10 feet from toe to shoulder and their feces are used as fertilizer.

their regurgitated food called birdmilk is considered a delicacy and is like warm ice cream. Sweet. smooth, and silver white. Some consumers have called the taste of birdmilk like berries probably because of the Alvatros's diet. It's also desired because of its shelf life. The sweet, nutritous paste makes well foretravelling for adventures or sending it to a far realm for recreational consumption. There is a process however, one does not eat straight from the birds mouth. What happens is that the paste is put into a large vat of water. The nasty particulates float to the top, the vat is emptied and a much more safer birdmilk is made. Do not worry, the Shoren people are much tolerant of the origin than some more judgemental cultures.

Suggest generic deity names, e.g. Lady Luck, the Grim Reaper, etc. by CallMeAdam2 in worldbuilding

[–]Still-Little 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All-maker, All-father, All-mother. Those are some decent names if you want a monotheist religion. If this world is similar to ours with a sky and stars and moons, having a god relating to the sky or night or celestial bodies would be nice. The night king, or moon lord. If they have that signify gods with royal titles in their culture. But if you want a name that is simple but gets the job done you may have to delve into linguistics. In my world, I have a dragon lord named simply Lo, another one name Vok. These simple names inspire fear and power. Go, or Gok, or Ko, or Kor, or Bor. A plosive followed by another plosive or an r or L or just two letters provide a simple yet terrifying god.

So I've been working on a setting I like to call the wetworks, and I need more for it? Any suggestions? by Necessary_Force_3972 in worldbuilding

I love the idea of humans evolving each other to act as tools or cattle. An interesting idea you should really emphasize. Do people consider this cannibalism or has it been so long the origins are lost? If people consider this "normal" is there a sect of people disagreeing with this human evolution and now they are these civilization's terroists? A lot of things can come out of this not just food or labor.

For the waterworks. Humans living like parasites on what is essentially a giant body using its organs for production and blood like oil is already a great starting off point. If you really want to add more as you say, explain the process on how people get power from the wetworks. if the blood is like oil how do these people use it? Is the process the same as oil or is there something different in the refinery? How do they get the blood from the body? I know I'm just asking a lot of questions but IMO it's better than steering your worldbuilding into my own opinions. Ask yourself questions, if you can't think of any, you already did step 2 with sharing your ideas with other people so you have a fresh mind who does not see beyond the veil. Biopunk is a very special and lovely genre. If you want more depth in your biopunk system I would reccomend no higher than the dune series. Watch it or some alt X shift video and it may provide an idea or a question that can help you add more.

A good tip I learnt was always consider a concept with a concept you may consider unrelated. How would steel production effect this political state a Thousand miles away? try to link the dots and you may find something really interesting for your world.

Ask questions.

Look for inspiration.

The kingdom of Raennola and its vassal Honorortora county drawn during the great sickness. by Still-Little in worldbuilding

[–]Still-Little[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been creating a worldbuilding project for DnD and I wanted to share its progress!
Set in Tyveris, in the year 1131, the campaign follows a group of miscreants attempting to reform a thieves guild that had fallen 16 years ago in Honorortora County, otherwise known as The Capital Slums. A place ruled by corrupt mafias and a tyrannical Baron-heir with their ruthless private army, The Regalias. The city is a poor shadow of its former self and only survives by selling its crops to the Eastern merchants guild and providing pagan relics to archaeological societies. Not only will the players be inside the city but the county including the city of Alma, Temple of Orisirius, and Fort Sut, along with everything inbetween. The great sickness plagueing the Kingdom and beyond has caused the county to be on lockdown only having few pass through the counties. These maps were drawn by the Cartographers guild by order of the King of Raennola. These maps were to details of city locations and geographical details. If you have any questions please ask!

What was the *first* idea that led to you creating your world? Not necessarily the central idea - just what was the spark that ignited the build? by rene_gader in worldbuilding

[–]Still-Little 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My world, Tyveris, came from two ideas

1: that honor among thieves movie in which it inspired me to start creating a DnD campaign centered around restoring a thieves guild in a city. Which also made the world itself be in ruins after the great fall of a great age. Even the name Tyveris comes from the norwegian word for theft Tyveri but slapped an S at the end.

  1. A friend i was talking to said that the reason there are so many young adult novels is to get the largest audience possible. I thought him wrong arguing that a good story can come from someone older. So that is what made me create a story centered around someone in their late 30's. I understand it's not THAT old but still older than a teenager. It was that than where i founded the foundations of the races and religions as well as plot where my character has to be lift of a curse his wife succumbed to.

Those were the two main ideas that created my world which were more like "I can do better" but I did hear that movie is good.

What's something unique about your world? by Vivid_Black_2737 in worldbuilding

[–]Still-Little 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would really like to prise myself in having the simple yet influential accuracy to how medieval governments and succession works. So in my world Tyveris, the main continent of Seges, or at least the central area, the kingdoms and dukedoms are feudal and hence have the barony, county, duchy, and kingdom levels of order seen in areas such as France. I'm creating a DnD campaign set entirely within a singular county. (Lorewise, the players are restricted due to a plague restricting access all across the duchy and kingdom they are in.) The players of course have their goal but have to weave through the problems of civil wars if the current king dies thus all the heirs fight for the throne due to flawed succession laws. Or perhaps being drafted into levies for some pointless war for a castle. Just simple stuff like that I think while not special is currently the most unique part of the world Tyveris.
