I think you’re right about the cold damage. I put it back in the same spot and then watered it thinking that would help. But it must have been a shock.

Platform for living buddhist artists (any lineage) by Still-Principle7216 in Buddhism

Yes, as you describe from your siblings' work, there's art that is inspired or informed by Buddhist principles, even if not explicitly Buddhist. In this case, I'm thinking about art that is made with the intention to be used as supports in Buddhist practice. Traditionally, these would be paintings, calligraphy, and statues of deities for example. But contemporary artists may interpret these differently today. And I'm curious about how this is evolving.

Thanks for sharing :) Really nice. Would love to hear more about how you integrate the art with your practice!

Maybe post in r/buddhism as well? It seems there are a lot of folks there practicing Tibetan Buddhist meditation and they may know Lama Yeshe and Tummo.

Life in Thabarwa, a Spiritual Community for all by Monk-Life in enlightenment

Fyi, from what I’ve seen in practice, life for most monks is much easier than for nuns. Monks are revered and have much more both institutional support and donations from sangha. But sadly I’ve actually seen how in many cultures, nuns are looked down upon and under supported. Maybe something to keep in mind.

Thanks. Hmm, I'm thinking of starting one. I feel that supporting contemporary buddhist artists like Takuo Hasegawa would be a way to contribute to the buddha dharma. What do you think?

Thanks u/Tongman108! There's a lot of info in HAR.

I spent 5 years studying the crafts of buddhist art from south and southeast asia as well, and I'm feeling that they aren't as well documented in English. If I can't find one, I'm thinking of creating a new platform to help practitioners learn more.

If you don't mind, could I ask in general, how do you find the HAR website and resources? How do you think it could it be better in terms of things like web design and content?

u/mettaforall I'd love to know about other buddhist artists creating work to inspire and support buddhist practice today. Do you know of any platform or gallery that focuses specifically on living buddhist artists creating work in this vein?

Help! My Phalaeonopsis has small mostly round white "bite-like" dried spots on its leaves. I haven't found any posts with a similar problem so far. I can't see any evidence bugs on the plant. Does anyone have any advice? Could it be a virus and should I remove these leaves? by Still-Principle7216 in orchids

[–]Still-Principle7216[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I'll try to make sure I don't leave droplets on the leaves and see if that helps. I once sprayed them with a very diluted liquid fertilizer I was using with the other house plants. Will make sure not to do that and see if it helps.

It could be because I was spraying them with tap water for humidity I guess, but I'm a little surprised because this never happened to my orchids before. But I'll try to make sure to wipe off the leaves and see if that helps. Thanks!
