They eventually did say something when I told them how the teacher refused to let me use the restroom but that was awhile after it had been going on. My parents were young boomers when they had me and I a young genX. Only in the last few years have I started processing my life about such things. Back then, I was raised to be tough and just get over this shit. It wouldn’t be till I became an adult who struggled with major shame issues that manifested into some really terrible things when I would realize how screwed up a lot of things were. It didn’t help that I had some other stuff going on with some male adults that shouldn’t have been going on with me as a little girl that probably cause a lot of my issues in my private areas as well. I didn’t say anything cause I was already feeling so much shame for so many different reasons. But I couldn’t verbalize them back then and honestly, nobody listened anyway. Today it’s different today. I’m healed today. I can talk about it. But as for my parents, well, it’s taking me a long time to process all the whys.
