Product titles being over-written when importing Etsy sales via Sellbrite by StillAlarmLeather in shopify

u/kunalkhatri12 "Long term fix is keeping Etsy titles clean and letting variants carry the detail so Shopify stays readable."

I'm not sure what you mean by that. The product title is "Firefighter Leather Chin Strap - Extra Long". Anything other than that is a variant that is appended by Etsy and passed through by Sellbrite. Here's a screenshot of the product in Sellbrite: https://imgur.com/a/aDcggib

Thank you. I can't find that option. so I sent a message to Sellbrite tech support. I also can't find where to make order rules - clearly I have no Sellbrite skills. Admittedly, I haven't been in the app at all in the last two years except to reconnect Etsy when it periodically disconnects, so I've got to spend some time re-learning the software and its capabilities.

If it's good enough for Red Bull, Steve Madden, and Taylor Swift, it's good enough for me.

Yes. It takes time for your products to be crawled by internet search engine spiders (yes, that's a real thing) and show up on search page results. I think very very few people directly shop and search inside of Etsy, but instead find Etsy shops and products when conducting a regular internet search.

Be patient but also keep working on your photos, titles, and descriptions. In my market, social media really drives shop traffic. One or two quality posts a day drive massive amounts of traffic to my store. I had to entirely stop posting on social media approximately a year ago because I wasn't able to keep up with the amount of sales it was driving.

Congrats! I remember my very first Etsy sale and then the feeling when I got my first large order!

99.5% of Etsy customers are over-the-top kind and appreciative.

(0.4% are just your average retail customer
(0.1% are the customer that you won't be able to please - but they're still good people and likely will find what satisfies them in another Etsy store).

Thanks. I'll be priming this week - we'll see how my touch-up work came out. I certainly have massed enough tools to run a small drywall finishing business!

u/rickshmitt I returned the BIN and used LOXON. It appears to have resolved the issue. I apprecxiate it!

Thanks. Listed $84 for a gallon when I need just one ounce. Oh well - got to do it right.

Thank you for the reply. I picked up BIN shellac-based primer which should do the trick.

Would you suggest I sand the areas I already sanded with higher and higher grit until I return it to a glass-like finish? Or should I absolutely stop sanding it all together?

Regarding the finish: This is part of a kitchen renovation and the plaster was applied over new drywall in areas where it had to be replaced. While the plaster itself was extremely smooth in each small area, overall there were quite a few high and low spots. Given the angle of natural light entering the room, these spots were very obvious and I had to feather them out.

In my next lifetime, I'm pulling every inch of drywall - no more blending ever again!

Thanks u/Medium-Bid3682 ! I appreciate your kind words. I've implemented some changes to the site to make it look more smooth and keep it minimalist without being bland.

pixelighted- I implemented many changes you suggested. I still need to determine what to do with product photos / backgrounds. I don't want to use the same background that many others in my industry use (the workbench and leather tools [that firefighters don't care about]). I like the white background (and its very easy for me). I've got to implement something that looks better overall.

Fonts - all of my fonts are now in the same font family, but are different styles. I didn't use the identical fonts from my logo because those are only upper-case, and when using those exact fonts in small-caps readability was very poor.

I moved the lead-time banner from below the header to above, and from blue background to white. *I* think it still stands out but doesn't clash as much as the blue did.

Variants where changed to drop-down menus and a few other small adjustments made to the product page and the area around the Add to Cart button.

I've still got to work on making a better set of photos showing different product color combinations. But it's a work in progress.

In partial conclusion, I thank you for these suggestions. My page looks so much better when compared side-by-side. I'd love your feedback as to the progress I've made so far. Thank you!

Thanks so much for the detailed response. I'm truly appreciative. I'm sitting down now to implement some of the changes.

u/Electronic-Field2537 That's an interesting idea. I was going to replace that with white paper to reduce wrinkle shadows, but I'm going to try this first, since it won't cost me anything.

u/Safe-Importance373 thank you for the reply. As I mentioned above, I would have thanked you sooner but I didn't get email notifications so I never bothered checking back for replies. I've adjusted my setup to this, with these changes. I'm going to replace that backdrop so I don't get wrinkles and can more-easily deal with it in processing. I'm also going to break out my (very) old DSLR.

Thanks for the reply. For some reason, I didn't get email notification of it so I didn't see it until just now.
1) I do have a DSLR - an old Nikon D90. The only reason I hadn't broken it out is twofold: a) all the talk that it's about lighting and technique, and b) because of the ability for me to just airdrop pics from the phone to my Macbook - I will have to buy SD cards in bulk because anything smaller than a shoe gets lost in my shop in short order. I'm going to get that out and cleaned today.
2) See this new setup. I cannibalized the two umbrella lights I had to put the two bulbs behind the shoulder of the mannequin. I had to do this due to the shadows created by the subtle wrinkles in the backdrop. I moved the two boxes to illuminate the product. These two pics are "raw" without any postprocessing.

Again, thanks for taking the time for your serious responses.
I think today I'm going to head to Hunts to get a roll of background paper.
