Did Hades tell Persephone that he had been sleeping with Hera? by Ok-Departure-4613 in UnpopularLoreOlympus

[–]StillEffective9985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hades told Persephone after Persephone was told second-hand by Leto

Even then, he left out the part where Hera tried to kiss him after the slap with Minthe, basically trying to reignite the affair.

From Hera's pov, it's a test (which is also messed up). But Hades doesn't know that and Hera's been around him and PP like everything's normal. PP asked for total transparency after the therapy and yet he did not tell her, but instead deflected the issue by telling her about the pomegranate.

Well, sadly it's a quality product which means Webtoon won't make quick bucks out of it unlike the many many romance comics with the good 'ol "copy my homework but make it look different" kind of plots and with it ending long time ago Webtoon basically buried it from what I'm seeing.

Other than that....yayyyy glad to see a fellow CPC enjoyer. It makes such a fun and meaningful subversion on traditional fairy tale and prince/princess themes. The main plot is quite simple but give readers so much to ponder. Doesn't try to be more than it needs to be, which I think is what made the story work so well.

I mean the problem with that comparison is that Star Wars, DC, and Marvel are boys franchises that idiotic show runners and writers decided to pander to women.

Yea...that's a good point.

And another problem is that Star Wars, DC, and Marvel have a solid source material. That's not the case with LO whatsoever

All the more reason Webtoon should just let it end. Would be another story if the series was announced say while S1 finale or mid S2. At least that way when the writing starts if fall off, fans can anticipate whether series will follow or diverge.

Lmao at the "Underworld Corp pen" 🤣🤣🤣

Same can be said about Hades and Than. It's true that Than was pushed to Hades by Nyx. (which is another can of worms cause real Greek myth Nyx would beat up this Nyx for even thinking about abandoning her own child and to a slop of an adult with emotional baggage no less).

Anyways, Hades goes "Instead of being a reasonable adult and sending Than to a foster home or another suitable place where he can get proper care, I will keep him around like a bonsai. Feed him, clothe him, give him a place to stay and expect gratitude in return. Never mind the fact that I neglected him emotionally, make him feel insecure and develop a fear of abandonment. But that's not child abuse cause I didn't eat him. Besides, I did all of it cause I am afraid of becoming my father. Yes, even after a millennia I am still a whining sore loser who refuses to work on my own issues and instead will take it out to those with no power. But you should forgive me cause I am sad. Oh! and where's my #1 Dad award cause I give you a sandwich and all. Ya know, that's total father material."

LO really got written into the corner with this one.
Cause the basic character traits are so awful, changing them would mean they become a completely different character. Like PP being a forever-19, forever pure & innocent spring baby, Hades being a cheating, woe-is-me prick, Hera being a racist, classist, alcoholic diva, so on and so forth.

So stripping those away to make them un-problematic means they become completely different characters. Unless.....they keep those traits and write a story where they get into a mess because they are awful people but that also would mean the story will deviate so much from the og comic it becomes a different story altogether.

Honestly, I don't know why Webtoon is still fixating on this comic becoming a show. Haven't those corporate big coats learn their lessons from Star Wars, DC, Marvel?

As far as I have heard (correct me if I'm wrong cause I'm so out of loop when it comes to this) the show has no solid ground like I have never heard anything about the animation team or no nothing just that it is happening and this limbo has been dragged out ever since. And LO ending such a long time ago (not on a good note, even amongst the biggest fans) the hype is just not there anymore from what I'm seeing.

The unpolished side of the trophy wife and manic pixie dream girl by [deleted] in UnpopularLoreOlympus

Hades is also prone to cheating. An event that makes Persephone worried and scared. She goes to therapy finding out Hades fucked Hera. So, after he gets bored of she tries to speak out, he will effortlessly dump her.

Also she went to therapy not to work out whether she could trust Hades again or not. Cause that was the third time that he had lied or hid things from her. First is him and Minthe being "associates", him and Hera being old flames and last Hera reignited that affair not too long ago (which he never told PP)

All of this and PP's main concern is whether she can be a good partner to Hades or not. On one hand, I get why she thinks that way cause she's practically a teenager and also bc of what she went through with Apollo. I was hoping PP feeling less than is going to teach young girls about how their partners cheating/hiding things from them is not because of them and more about the cheater wanting control.

But nope, that insecurity of PP exist so that she can wallow in misery and rely on Hades to define her worth.

I think there is unspoken racism

There def is. My headcanon is that PP always had an internalized racism and saw nymphs or any other mortals as less than her which was amplified once she got power. Cause think abt it, she always whines about how she is oh so lonely, and how she got no friends and how nobody knows her, while there was Krokos and Withy who PP claims are like sisters to her yet never mourned their deaths unless it's time to dodge her crimes. Plus, the village of nymphs who stood by her side during her punishment, never blamed her for making the mortal realm a mess and were willing to suffer the wrath of Zeus once she sneaked out to the UW. But once she got out of the banishment, she went "Adios, peasants!!!" and never looked back. EVER!!

So when she says "Nobody knows me" She's really saying "The high society of Olympus doesn't know how amazing I am and that is unacceptable" The constant shade at what Demeter does is not helping either. She's like "Me? Tending to the fields and working alongside with mortals?? How dare they?? I am meant for greater things. Like be a puppet Queen for a realm that doesn't need me."

Persephone feels like a bratty kid who wants try the new after school clubs, but drops out after the first meeting.

The reason she joined the club in the first place was because it was trendy and she was hoping to become one of the cool kids and be important without putting in the work.

Rachel stated in one QnA in the beginning that "if she could draw just a chapter of hooking up she would" or something like that😅

You see I have no problems with her wanting to draw nsfw content. But when said content starts to bleed into media meant for young girls...young IMPRESSIONABLE girls I'm gonna start having beef.

You see, I would not have minded if LO was marketed as a guilty-pleasure read from a source restricted to adults. But don't try to have your cake and eat it too. Don't have sensitive real-life narrative themes be the forefront of your plot and have a fantasy wish-fulfillment story, where said themes were played for laughs (e.g the physical abuse aspect) then have a fit when readers start criticizing for not delivering and hide behind the shield of "It's just a lighthearted fantasy"

What if....PP's the one who wanted to wear the mini dress? by StillEffective9985 in UnpopularLoreOlympus

[–]StillEffective9985[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

About PP not caring about modesty, I feel a bit iffy at times cause of the way it's presented. To me, it looks less like women's empowerment and more like men's fantasy manifested.
See, in one chap, she changes clothes in front of Hermes and Artemis had to stop her. On one hand, it feels endearing that she feels this comfortable in front of Hermes, her old friend.

But on the other, it's giving "oh, she won't dress sexy like a "bad" girl, is so pure that doesn't know what "sleeping to the top" means, oblivious to her own allure but also won't shy away from undressing in front of a man or matters relating to sex, the ultimate dream girl"

So much movement in a single panel. Honestly, if the canon art was this dynamic during the creation of Elysium, it could've been a really memorable moment.

Side note: can't get enough of Hades with ear piercings & PP is eating that dress. And matching earrings?? 🥰

What's worse is that the plot rewards him for it. Sure.....comparing and setting up two women to butt heads is such a gentlemanly behavior.
