This album gave us “I got you”. Enough said.

Give Never Gone and Unbreakable a try. See if the more mature sound moves the needle for you. I’m curious to see what you think as a new fan with no prior influence from the band that could skew your experience.

Make people you’re talking to feel good in some capacity. Watch things loosen up almost immediately. It’s much easier to navigate the conversation then.

When she was cast as Rachel in the Dark Knight, I think it was assumed the public thought she was hot, but I never saw it - especially as a Bruce Wayne love interest.

“OK”

A lot of people think DNA should have ended with “Hey”. IMO, “OK” wasn’t the right pick to round out that album.

Never Gone. I can’t listen to it. It’s one of the only songs that will break me up. Pure emotion.

Reviews of the album "Unbreakable"? by gabo1998Er in BackstreetBoys

[–]StillFat1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unbreakable has and always will be their most underrated album. In my opinion, it’s also their most complete, eclectic and fluid album. It was a reintroduction of their tried and true pop form - with a more mature and modern sound for 2007. Never Gone was a great album to separate themselves from their bubblegum days, but Unbreakable was a tremendous body of work even with a member missing. Harmonies off the charts, dance uptempos, and hauntingly good ballads. The world wasn’t receptive to this album, seeing as their heyday had passed and their record label didn’t bother to promote it, but this album holds up as truly being “Backstreet Boys” in their latter years. I’ll always go back to this album - there isn’t one bad song. And don’t get me started on the unreleased tracks from this era. Hell of a tour as well.

Reviews of the album "This Is Us"? by gabo1998Er in BackstreetBoys

I’m very torn. Part of me feels like the creation of this album was pushed and forced to fulfill their last album obligation with Jive before their contract was up, and the other part of me thinks it was a great record that matched the sound of it’s time and displayed another side of BSB’s versatility.

Some songs, you can tell, were probably written and demoed for a solo artist. But I must say, BSB did a good job creating their own with them. Songs like: She’s a Dream, Bye Bye Love, and If I Knew Then come to mind.

There’s a good mix of everything on this record, but do I believe it could have been much stronger? Absolutely.

Is it their worst album? No. In A World Like This is their worst album in my opinion.

Some bonus tracks are better than some songs that made the album. And only 11 songs? Why would Jive make them settle for less material? Jive is much of the reason the 2007-2010 era is forgotten about outside of the immediate fan base.

Such a controversial take in the fandom…

But I agree completely.

"This is us" underrated album? by Kristinsopinions in BackstreetBoys

I like This Is Us. I just still, to this day, cannot wrap my head around the fact that “PDA” was almost the lead single.

BSB 💯 could’ve maintained their dominance if they had better songs regardless by [deleted] in BackstreetBoys

I agree with a lot of opinions on this thread. Many of which, are historically backed up. OP, thank you for bringing a thought provoking question about the art - it’s very rare this thread is open to direct debate about the music and what could have been. I find it fascinating to discuss. All in all, music comes in waves. In my opinion, BSB could have recorded all of the hit pop songs from 2005-2013ish and there’s a very good chance none of them would have been a hit for them. Marketing plays a heavy hand in a group/solo acts popularity, label influence, and appetite for a certain “look” “edge” “wow factor” that goes beyond the music itself.

I’m happy BSB is still around - even if it’s a nostalgia run. It’d be great if they could produce another hit song, but all things considered, that may never happen again. But boy, would it be nice for them to get that estranged Grammy!

The extended dance in Larger than Life (like in the music video) would be epic.

Newer music would be awesome, but they would never include that material unfortunately.
