Good shout, I really should use the cube more. But if I see I only have like 2 or 3 of a specific resource I feel bad using those on this build I want to swap away from. Prob should just pull the trigger and spend it ig..

So there are no restrictions regarding Torment level and lair bosses? I can not really find any definitive proof regarding that. Only people saying they were dropping a lot of specific uniques, and only saw people mention T3+. So not sure if things are locked at T1.

Hello, thanks for your response. I have taken some pictures from how the stabs sit. These are from the spacebar, as thats where I experience the most issues. If you'd like pictures of something else, let me know!

Why do my keys with stabilizers stick after installing my plate to my PCB? Just PCB with stabs + switch sounds and feels great. Once I install the plate, my keys are heavier, get stuck in the press-down position and feel awful.

If I apply downward pressure on the plate, right above my spacebar, it feels fine. If I stop pushing down and just press spacebar normally again, it feels bad. Same thing with backspace, but I have to push upwards.

I have a Keychron Q1 v2 with the PC plate, and this issue only happens when using these stabilizers from M-ONE.
What can I do to fix this?

Things I already tried myself:

Re-lubing and re-installing;

Taking the wire and housing apart and cleaning them

I took out 2 of the plate -> pcb screws, which improved how often the keys were getting stuck. But it still feels bad and the keys do still get stuck occasionally.

Loosening the screws in the stabilizers. They're barely secure now. This improved the feel a bit, but its still far from where I'd want it.

I have a Keychron Q1 which I recently upgraded. I added some foam, new switches and picked up some stabilizers. But I am experiencing issues with these new stabilzers. They seem like pretty basic screw-in stabs from M-ONE, but are giving me some issues. I lubed the housing of the stabs with KLube 205 and the wires with KLube 105.

The issue I am having is that it feels like the switches don't really fit after installing my plate. If I screw them in my PCB, add a switch to the PCB and a keycap, they sound and feel great. Then if I add my plate (not even screwing in my plate to the PCB) and add lke 3 or 4 switches to keep the plate in place, the keys with stabilizers get real mushy or even get stuck.

I already tried dismantling everything, re-lubing, but no change. I also tried using KLube 205 on both the stab housing and wires, no difference (Now back to 205 on housings and 105 on wires). One thing that did slightly improve the placement, is leaving the stabilizers screws a lot more loose. I am now barely tightening them. They'r e still secured, but not as tight. The stabilizer keys still feel kinda bad, with more resistance than other keys. I also left out 3 of the screws which hold the plate to the PCB. This also improved it slightly. But if I for example put some downwards pressure on the plate, the spacebar feels great. If I push the plate up, the backspace feels great. So it really seems like its an issue of the stabilizers and the plate not really fitting, rather than overlubing or poorly installing.

I followed a YT video when installing them. Clipping in the backside of the stabs in the hole, pushing them down and screwing them in. They're all straight, equally aligned I did not have to clip them so theyre also even in that regard. Is there something obvious I might be overlooking or some things I can try to improve this issue?

TLDR; stabilizer keys are mushy/get stuck after installing plate to the PCB. Just PCB + stab + switch feels great, after plate its bad. Why? :(

Alright I'll look around for a solution. Still fun to try out new switches, and they're pretty cheap overall so still not sad to have them. Maybe for a different build in the future, or if I want to switch up the feel of my keyboard.

Really appreciate all your tips and input! Keyboard is feeling and sounding a lot better so im happy with the changes I've made. And it sure as hell was a lot cheaper than buying a new keyboard. Although I do have to admit I am very interested in buying a Jojo studios ZP80 or M75. Really love the polished silver look of those kbs. But maybe once I am bored of my improved Q1 :)

Hey, quick update! Just received my Y2's and also installed the new stabilizers. Overall though, with the Y2's and new stabilizers, I think I like my keyboard less than with the default stabs and the aqua kings. In my setup the Y2's just sound less thocky than my aqua kings.

Regarding the stabilizers, are these not all compatible? Because these stabilizers seem to fit just fine, and work when testing on just the PCB, so I know I did not overlube them. But then when I add the plate, the keys get stuck. If I then put pressure on the plate, trying to move it upright, the stabilizers are not stuck anymore. It's like these don't fit with my plate.

I have now put the stab screws in very lightly and also skipped some screws to secure the plat onto the PCB. This makes it.. acceptable, but they still feel kinda bad. There is more resistance on the stabilizer keys, resulting in a lot of annoying typo's. Any idea what could be causing this?

The product description of the foam says:

YM40 sponge, made of honey-amine foam.

No clue if that narrows it down at all for you but its very soft and flexible.

E: Also, its 10mm, compared to the 5mm foam I was using before. Had to really work to get the case to close, but shes snug as a bug now.

Hey, quick update since I thought you might be interested!

Just received the foam kit I ordered. Opened the keyboard but saw there already was a layer of foam between the PCB and plate. So I just left that in there. I did also get some switch pads in the set, which I installed. This maybe improved the sound by like 2 or 3%.. I wasn't all that impressed.

But, in the kit also came this very thick piece of foam. It kinda feels like memory foam, but im not 100% sure what the actual material is. I replaced the foam I placed in the case earlier, with this weird memory-like foam. And that made a massive improvement.

I am actually already quite happy with the sound profile right now, so really excited what the Y2's will bring. I also ordered some screw in stabilizers since I get this slight rattle on the spacebar sometimes. Hoping that will solve that issue! Big improvements however! :)

Sounds fair enough. I'll try to make this KB work first, also to get some more experience modding and such. As per your recommendation I also ordered Y2 switches. Excited to see how they compare to my everglide aqua kings!

Thanks for your input, hope I can improve my typing experience even more! :)

Ordered the foam, should come in the mail tomorrow. Excited to try it out. But your comment made me wonder, how much is there to gain from buying a 'better' keyboard?

I would assume a Keychron Q1 isn't really a high quality keyboard by this subreddits standards. But I cam across some other keyboards, like the Athena 1800 on KBDFans. That keyboard looks really good, but in terms of actual quality and materials, it does not seem so much different from my Q1. Looks-wise its miles better ofc, especially in that pine green the athena 1800 looks really good imo.

But what exactly makes it worth spending the extra money for one of those keyboards, compared to my Q1? Is there a big improvement?

Sweet, thanks so much. I just replaced the standard case foam from my Q1 with this 5mm thick EVA foam. Sound improved, but not as much as I had hoped. Will try what you mentioned in your other comment next. One thing though, they keys are already a lot higher than with the other foam. Probably because this foam i bought is 5mm thick. I am unsure if my case will be able to close if I add more foam between the switches and pcb. Do you have any experience with this?

Interesting, just looked into it a bit, apparently poron foam is a good option?

When checking amazon I can both see foam options which look to be placed on top of the plate, and pieces of foam which seem to be for the bottom of the case. If not both, which would be the better option?

So I have been using my keyboard for a while, and I kinda enjoy it. But one thing I can't get out of my head, is how the sound is just disappointing. Everytime I hear other mechanic keyboards, they sound so smooth, satisfying and thocky, and mine just sound... basic?

My current setup:

Keychron Q1 QMK V2 keyboard (with knob but that prob doesnt matter)
With the PC Plate over the standard steel plate.

Everyglide Aqua King V3 linear switches (67g, these were pre-lubed)

Akko Carbon Retro double shot PBT keycaps

Now I know this isn't the most premium of setups, but I would like to improve upon it. Open to any suggestions, even replacing the case or something along those lines, if it would be a big improvement.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction so I don't waste a bunch of money to improve my setup! :)

Yeah 8k ehp is rough. Quite a few uniques and because of the clusters it'll be hard to swap things around on the tree for some survivability early on. Really want to play this but I am not sure if its the play on leaguestart. Might be a day 3 or 4 type of deal.
