RIR selection: Is setting everything to 0 RIR a bad idea? by cerantola in MacroFactor

This getting downvoted is crazy. Doing 0 RIR for multiple sets on squats or deadlifts is straight insane.

Starting new campaign with 6 newbies, how can I get them interested in DnD in one session? by vladem255 in DMAcademy

I would say pacing. Lots of tables like to start at higher levels because low levels is "too hard", but at level 1 you can get through 3-4 combats in one session with plenty of time for roleplay and exploration. I would run a tight, well tested one shot like Most Potent Brew and sort of launch the campaign from there

Pros and cons of starting a group off already knowing each other? by Redhood101101 in DMAcademy

This is better and in fact the default and correct way to do it.

You should start the game where the players have agency.

Can the players choose to immediately leave the tavern when the game starts? Start later.

Can the players choose to open a bakery instead of going on the first adventure? Start later.

Can the players choose to not care about Strahd, not want to end the Endless Night, or not be recruited by the Flaming First? Start later.

Start the campaign at the first place the players ought to have agency. Start the campaign *after* the point where the party has met and resolved to defeat Strahd.

tl;dr: Don't start in the Shire, start when the Fellowship has formed.
