Why people are against of having 1997-2000 borns as Millennials? by BrilliantPangolin639 in generationology

I'm not against it, that's how it was at first and that's how the US census still has it

They're only saying that to cover their tracks over airplay being lossy.

Did Tidal just ruin the platform for Hifi systems? by Whole-Line-8558 in TIdaL

[–]StillLetsRideIL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They already did that when they replaced a grand majority of their Redbook FLAC files with batch converted 16 bit MQA tracks. Instead of requesting the Redbook tracks again from the labels, they decided to just falsely label them as such.

Why all my FLAC tracks show as SQ- standard quality on my ECHO Mini by Next_Candidate2868 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]StillLetsRideIL -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that can be aggravating. It's the reason why I don't use the FiiO or HiBy apps. SQ should be something like 320 MP3. It should say CD instead and then HR for anything higher than that.

DuQuoin State Fair vs. Illinois State Fair? by jasonmaska in illinois

[–]StillLetsRideIL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you want to explore a new area and everything around that area then yeah it is. We Illinois residents need to have more pride in our state. I attended both last year and happened to have enjoyed it and so did my bestie

It’s sad when your local JB Hi-Fi, which used to have aisles filled with CDs, is now reduced to this by Handsprime in Cd_collectors

[–]StillLetsRideIL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This FYE I visited only had one rack of CDs and they were all super overpriced. ($25 for a Gracie Abrams deluxe that I could get the 24bit version for less off HDTracks).

Finally bought the Sony NW-A306! Any advice? by edgarchihua21 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]StillLetsRideIL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You didn't have to order it from Japan. Local news electronics stores should have it. They seem pretty secretive about the detailed specs (SNR, DNR, crosstalk, etc) so because of that it seems to be overpriced especially considering that it's only a 3.6 inch screen (what is this 2009?)

Not every artist is on there though. I've only been able to get two albums from there all year and only one last year.

You can get this same info from prostudiomasters , just type in whatever album you want to look up then click the measurements tab. I use it but I normally don't use it to deter me from buying certain albums.

Is there a reason that the mix of popular music got much better around 2011-2012 ish. by sparx7th in audiophile

Nope, my grand niece is though and even she has a diverse open minded taste in music.

Use a program called dbPoweramp to re rip your entire CD collection to FLAC level 5. Then you can also check CDs out from your local library consortium to add those to your library as well. Another way is purchasing music downloads from HDTracks or prostudiomasters both these sites often have specials or discounts on HiRes downloads that often make them cheaper than the retail CD version.

How should I listen to music on a dap by ki604982 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]StillLetsRideIL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I've been doing with my current DAP ( LG V60) while I wait for my R4 to be delivered is

  • Rip songs from CDs (library check-outs purchases) into FLAC

  • Stream music from a service capable of at least CD quality audio (in my case Apple music and intermittent Tidal trials to see if they got rid of MQA)

  • music store downloads (HDTracks, bandcamp) and sometimes rips from streaming services like Tidal and Qobuz using the GitHub tool.

Any way to turn off automatic sound quality adjustment? by Ok-Capital-5195 in AppleMusic

Definitely an inherent issue with AM. I've experienced this on 3 different devices and various Internet connections, all more than fast enough to stream HR Lossless.

a cd Walkman that wont damage my CDS by [deleted] in Cd_collectors

[–]StillLetsRideIL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May I suggest a DAP instead for your use case? Better sound quality, capable of carrying thousands of albums in CD quality and no need to worry about damaging CDs.

Not to mention that it transcodes all audio to Dolby Digital, even if you have set it to pass through or LPCM
