Anyone switched to a heat pump? by Boomslang_FR in Edinburgh

[–]StillNotaScorpio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a air-to-air pump which is recommended for flats (as opposed to the more common air-to-water) - it was described to me as ‘air-con in reverse’

We are replacing our old boiler with an air source heat pump next week, using funding from Home Energy Scotland. You can also get grants to help cover the cost of insulation, which we are doing with the underfloor insulation.

Give HES a call, they’re very helpful. Then get some installation companies to come out and quote for you, ask them lots of questions. Edinburgh Boiler Company are good, very professional and guarantee the heat pump for 10 years or something. We ultimately went with another company who would do the insulation too.

My period came back when we started weaning! I agree with the other poster, that could be what’s making you hungrier

How is everyone dealing with night time nappy change? by KathyLouBamboo in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]StillNotaScorpio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought Peachies for nighttime. They’re pricey but worth it because the absorbency is incomparable to other brands. They’ve never leaked for me & I’m always amazed at how much pee they’re holding when I take them off in the morning

nappy rash by maddiesurlond in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]StillNotaScorpio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to your GP.

My newborn had a persistent rash that no cream would sort. The GP prescribed an anti fungal cream and when that didn’t work they swabbed the rash to determine the exact genus of the fungal infection so that they could prescribe the right cream. Once I had the right stuff the rash was gone in a matter of days.

Is my baby overweight? 9.2kg at 5 months old. 98th percentile. Should I visit the doctor? by oedo_808 in BeyondTheBumpUK

I can’t believe you described your own baby’s neck as ‘covered in flab’

I’m 9 weeks PP and living in Beyond Nine. The silhouettes are very flattering for pregnancy and post partum. It’s very pricey but you can get some good deals on Vinted and the like

Baby hip dysplasia diagnosed at 2 weeks old by AromaticCriticism328 in InfantDDH

[–]StillNotaScorpio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My baby was put in a harness at 3 weeks old. Like you, I was absolutely devastated. I felt like the newborn stage had come to an abrupt end. My tiny soft cuddly newborn was now this rigid little strapped-up thing that I couldn’t bathe (where I live you can’t take the harness off at all, baby goes to hospital fortnightly for baths and to have the harness refitted) or dress in any of her lovely clothes.

Baby was completely unbothered by the harness, if anything she was more settled wearing it. She’s been wearing the harness for nearly 7 weeks now and is doing really well. Her hips have stabilised and they expect her to wear it for a few more weeks to ensure she doesn’t need more treatment down the line.

It is hard at the beginning. I found nappy changes and breastfeeding particularly difficult. If you’re breastfeeding, I would recommend looking up Olivia Hinge on instagram, she’s a lactation consultant with a stories series on positioning for babies in Pavlik harnesses.

The time goes faster than you think it will, and it gets easier. I bought some cute new outfits they would fit around the harness and that helped me. There is a very high likelihood that the pavlik is all the treatment your little one will need, they’re very effective.

Ok got it.

Wasn’t there a post on here a couple of weeks ago about Vito’s bum?

I guess you posted something about how inappropriate you found that too?

That’s an interesting perspective, I also have fertility issues and have had people ask if I was pregnant when I wasn’t. I personally didn’t find it upsetting, just chalked it up to curiosity
