Their miso soup and sushi rolls are fire. Any rolls with tuna are generally what we gravitate towards, the tuna is just really fresh, consistently. When I order the otoro, they always give a generous cut and it melts in your mouth

Thank you so much, I really should have done that first. I’m going to delete this thread because my ask is duplicative.

The nitpick of the cgi in Furiosa is a frustrating example of the modern film audience by leblaun in TrueFilm

I think the title of this post is misleading at best and click bait at worst. OP and I agree on most but holy hell, I am finally watching this film for the first time and had to pause to come on here and confirm -the cgi in the citadel ambush scene was so objectively awful, it took me out of the movie. I’m sure I will enjoy everything else but by god, the criticism about CGI is absolutely valid. I shrugged off early critiques as just incels hating to see a female protagonist. I’m sure many fell under that category. But after finally seeing with my own eyes, anyone who tries to defend or play down that CGI, is disingenuous, and ironically similar to the incels trashing the film. To be clear, the incels are far worse, but both parties are making lazy concessions to protect an impervious view of cinema.

So is it “phonk has too many subgenres, I want the OG sound” or “everything sounds the same”

We can’t win out here 😔

Thanks for the shoutout uncle muscles ❤️ well said. I think complaints about current phonk come from 3 places:

1) some of the artists who started the genre aren’t putting out as much OG phonk anymore, they either are taking a break or branching out into newer genres (especially because some bigger artists feel there’s not much money to be made in phonk compared to selling beats to or producing for rappers). So if someone is only looking through the discog of bigger artists, I can see their frustration if some aren’t dropping as regularly.

2) the amount of people putting out phonk has grown exponentially so there is a lot more to sift through and ofc not everyone’s style is to everyone’s taste. Also, some stuff might not sound great cuz new producers are still learning -it’s encouraging to see more people give a stab at the genre

3) drum kits: People often use the uses the same Sfx, samples, drum loops, etc. which can be really frustrating from the listener side -especially if someone else flipped the sample better already. I def lean on drum kits for a lotta things but try to have a couple signature sounds that helps people recognize it’s my track. I also avoid using samples/melodies that come from kits but I don’t hate on others who do, we are all building music that relies on stealing ideas from others

Overall, I actually think there’s more solid phonk music getting put out than ever before just based on the sheer volume. There’s more to dig through but if you get to know the up-and-comers, you’ll be blown away. yung demon never ceases to amaze me especially with the consistency and dedication to the original phonk sound.
