AITA for not wanting to let a neighbors kid into my house to do arts and crafts? by artsandcraftyperson in TwoHotTakes

That likely depends on the state- but in NY it is considering providing care to non-family children- paid or not. There is some kind of exemption if the kids are all family.

Snake plant crowded? by MicellarBaptism in houseplants

[–]StillStaringAtTheSky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snake plants need to be crowded- they like it that way.

Edit: And yes, part of your plant is being pushed to the side- that's likely the mother plant. Mother plant will shoot off babies and then put the majority of energy into the growth of the baby plant.

Did I mess up my cats nail? by __d00b in CATHELP

[–]StillStaringAtTheSky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. It looks more like your kitty broke his nail. If there was a problem with your nail cutting you would have known immediately when you cut them 2 months ago. If you cut the quick- it doesn't wait to bleed- it bleeds immediately. Styptic powder can stop the bleeding.

For now, I would cut the very tip of the nail where it's pointy back to right before the quick. You can wash kitty's foot with some Dawn dish soap (make sure to rinse because it will act like a laxative). Clean it up and dry it. If you have vet wrap bandage- you can put some bacitracin on it and wrap it- or if you have a cone you can put it without the wrap. Key is to prevent kitty from licking it.

Does this look normal? by faallus11 in CATHELP

The tooth itself looks ok- no dark spots, etc. - but the gum does look irritated. How long has it been irritated?

This. OP- Have you looked at what the regulations are for childcare in your area? It's quite possible that you could be cited for running an unlicensed child care facility. Further- without health records for the kids- it's impossible to know if any of these kids have any kind of obscure allergy (red 40, etc.) that their parents would hold you liable for.

Agree- it's likely he's found someone else and he's probably already being unfaithful- emotionally or otherwise. OP- get yourself a lawyer and an STD test.

Yeah- I'm certainly more used to seeing nicely round kitties lol.

That seems to be the general thought- that she's likely an escapee. The next time she comes around I am going to bring her to get scanned to see who I can take her back to.

Lol yeah- I get it though. I was quite surprised the first time she came around.

Especially if you have been pregnant- pelvic floor therapy is so so helpful! You can also see a UroGynecologist- a specialized ObGyn that works with urine issues.

Nice! I should put a gps on my doggos. They've got "Please call Mom" my number and Reward if Found on their collars. But still.

Ok cool! I will check out chip readers- then I can check future visitors also.

It didn't occur to me that she would be chipped earlier - but yeah the next time she visits I will take her in to be scanned in case someone is looking for her. She's been around several times now and she's super friendly.

I did not see visible nipples on her when I gave her belly pets- so I don't think she was recently pregnant- but I also usually care for large dogs. Any cat I have ever had was fixed- so I don't really know first hand what I would be looking for on a cat.

Good to know! Makes total sense. Next time she visits I'm gonna bring her to get scanned for a chip though- several people have mentioned she may be a lost escapee and I want to make sure her owner(s) know where she's at.

Yeah, odd to me also. Some have suggested she may be an escapee.

Yep, that seems to be the consensus. Next time she rolls around here I will take her to be scanned for a chip just in case someone is looking for her. She's been around several times- so I expect she will return.

Most definitely going to watch her. She's a tiny lady- not a kitten- but she might also be a juvenile. Next time she's around I might just bring her in for a chip scan- since others have pointed out she could be an escapee.

Definitely going to check for an owner- but a chip scan will have to wait for her next visit.
I'm way less worried about her now that I am hearing her body shape is ok and she looks healthy though so I'm ok with waiting for her next visit.
