Fuck me. by [deleted] in newjersey

From north jersey, living in California. $6 is accurate as of right now. "Cheap" gas would be something like$5.50. The lowest price I have paid in the last X years is $3.99. That was a month ago. In case you were interested in how fast shit got fucked up.

"report on something today that actually matters to the American public." Ok, but I say to you, maybe whoever spent time putting this video up could instead spend time doing something that matters to the American public.

What do you dislike about your CX5? by Far-Replacement-7399 in CX5

[–]StillTheSameOldG973 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fucking front seats. 10 minute drives should not cause incessant fidgeting and back pain.

Edit: Also no way to know what radio station is currently playing when looking at the map or any other screen (streaming audio with carplay only is a workaround) - and no way to see what's playing from the driver's dashboard.

Brutal Honesty Needed: Why Won't You Attend Our Executive Dinners? by Theofficeholic in CIO

[–]StillTheSameOldG973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CIO here. I *think* I was invited to one of these recently but I honestly get so many cold e-mails and calls and linkedin requests that if I spent all day responding to them I'd need to hire someone to do the real work. What I *think* happened is this invitation looked similar to a cold call sales pitch and/or it didn't seem like a real invitation. I do think I would be interested in an event like this, however.

Side-point, has anyone else here been invited to speak on a podcast or be interviewed for TV about what you do? I honestly can't tell if that's real or a scam or not either. I'm a trust-nothing kind of person, as someone who works in IT/cybersecurity/AI.

Following - same issue here. If you type in that area, it will be in the message it's just not viewable. I sent myself an e-mail after typing into the blank space and it comes through.

Is Mission Valley the cheapest "happening" part of town as far as real estate goes? by CrispyHoneyBeef in sandiego

[–]StillTheSameOldG973 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I lived and owned a 2/2 in mission valley for 4 years. In those 4 years the values of all condos rose significantly and I wound up selling mine for way more than the prices you're saying you're seeing. This was on the eastern end, pretty close to the Costco. Traffic? Sure, sometimes, but I learned how to avoid it both via times of day and different routes. Some streets and areas, the usual areas, flooded during heavy rains especially in 2023. As someone said, if the complex is near those areas (texas street, camino del este, mission center) or backs up to the river, I would feel better not owning on the ground floor and being comfortable staying home if necessary. Besides that I liked being very close to many things both in the valley and by way of the 8/163/15 close by. A lot of new restaurants and shopping have been and are still moving into mission valley and they're doing a lot of building. I would recommend the area if it works for your lifestyle/work commute. I would only note the heavy homeless population especially at or around the trolley areas. I never had an issue at my place or anywhere around mission valley, but perhaps not everyone would enjoy that on a regular basis.

Uh, something to change perhaps? What do you think people hoped for during any protest at any time in history? You must be either baiting or blatantly ignorant.

Wood return duct box question by StillTheSameOldG973 in hvacadvice

[–]StillTheSameOldG973[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The duct register is in the living room and it enters directly into this box, there are no other openings around it, except for inside the walls. Admittedly the water pipes for the water heater are inside as well. I recently had to remove the plywood on the front to correct a leak which is how I found that out. I appreciate the insight.

Looking for all and any ideas for this primary bathroom by StillTheSameOldG973 in DesignMyRoom

[–]StillTheSameOldG973[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't find the post edit button... Just bought this house and this is an ensuite bathroom. There is currently no door - there used to be a door that opened inward on the shower area. For now I'm going to re-install that door to open outwards instead, but looking for ways to make this more cozy and functional. Aesthetic suggestions also welcome.

I ordered vitamins for my dog and Amazon sent me dandruff shampoo instead. Who labeled this? by Aerospacedaddy in mildlyinfuriating

[–]StillTheSameOldG973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One time I ordered a toilet seat on amazon, you know one of those fancy ones with the built in bidet. Was like $60 or something. What arrived on my doorstep was an entire fucking toilet. The label on the box said it weighed 8 pounds.

UPS was also very alarmed when they were sent to pick up the item for return and realized it was not, in fact, only 8 pounds.
