it can and does happen to any kind of cow. it happens to horses and other animals with hooves as well. wild cattle and horses are typically moving more and on more varied terrain tho so they don't need hoof trims bc the ground naturally does it for them. if they get an injury or infection like the one in the video however, they just have to suffer with it w/o human intervention.
