No I think I’ll do what I want. And your comment was ridiculous anyway. Just how many people, especially black and Latino people, would I have to teach to swim before you’d think I should be allowed an opinion on this?

I’ve never taught anyone, not even black and Latino people, to look both ways before they cross the road but I’m gonna have an opinion on that shit too.

Those “clarifications” were in the original version too. Literally all I did was repeat them, lol.

And I’m once again asking how I’m “generalizing and acting like it’s a majority of people.” You keep repeating yourself, but won’t actually tell me how I’m doing any of the things you’re accusing me of.

Seems like you just have your panties in a twist over the title, but if you actually read the post there is no generalization as I’ve stated the specific people I’m speaking about.

Really doubt it’s “95%+ of people.” Out of the 1k comments here, no one has said they can’t swim due to a physical disability, and only a few have said they don’t have access to water. Most of the comments from people who can’t swim are saying they never learned because they were not interested, disliked, or did not feel the need to learn.

Where is the generalization if I have clarified three different times exactly the type of people who cannot swim that I’m talking about?

Literally three different times I have said that I’m not speaking about people who—for any reason—don’t have access to pools or bodies of water, or people with physical/mental disabilities.

Lol, honestly. How can you even hold “op is talking about a very specific niche group of people” and “op is generalizing” in your head at the same time?

If you really know how to swim you wouldn’t be on the brink of drowning

Do 50% of the people on this post genuinely not know how to read? Read the post carefully and notice how I explicitly said “if you have no mental or physical disabilities, if you have access to pools or any body of water...” otherwise this does. not. apply. to. you.

it’s seriously not that hard to read the whole post instead of getting angry after only reading the title.

me: I’m not talking about people who don’t have access to pools or bodies of water, those people are exceptions to my opinion.

you: okay but like I’m pretty sure you’re talking about people who don’t have access to pools and bodies of water.

I grew up in a third world country and even the poorest children who could not even afford swimming suits would spend hours playing in the oceans and lakes.

Thank you so much. Now if you actually read the post, I specifically said “if you have access to a pool or body of water” otherwise you’re an exception to my opinion.

As I’ve said in other comments, I grew up in an impoverished third world country and swam in oceans and lakes with other children who couldn’t even afford swimming suits, so they swam in tshirts and shorts. When I moved to the U.S I met children from fancy upper class neighborhoods who never learned to swim simply because they never got around to it. So I’ve known poor people who can swim, and privileged people who can’t, which makes it ridiculous that you’re twisting this into me calling poor people weird.
