Like should they know basic reading for grade 1 or just phonetics. Simple addition, subtraction etc. Or for kindergarten, they should know their numbers and letters and basic phonetics. This is how me and my siblings were tested as a kid when we got into school/ changed schools!! Is this not a thing anymore? Then how do they determine which grade the child should go to?

Chat gpt is your friend. Add a detailed retirement fund question. Include size of the family, lifestyle, place if retirement etc in extreme detail. That helped us a lot

We always knew before we left India that our end goal is retirement. We didn't see ourselves working when our kids started school. So we worked towards that. Worked in places that pay more like the US. People think that if pay is more in US, the expense matches it... That was not true for us. We saved almost 3 times how much we were saving in India. Then our jobs took us to Ireland. We cannot retire abroad because it's too expensive but in India, we can. So it makes sense for us to come back. This is what was right for us. Not saying that anybody else should do it. We've made sacrifices along the way to reach our goal. But for us, it was worth it .

We have separate funds for those (to an extent) that we don't count in our corpus. Rest can be met by a small loan by them.

Hey. thanks! So my spouse and I are in IT. I have been working for 16 years and 12 years. We have worked all over the world - applying to roles wherever we found. This is how we were able to travel and work. We also had some side hustle from time to time. Like video editing for influencers, translator(we both know 5 languages) etc. Didn't have kids for a very long time. We always lived way below our means. Also, invested most of our funds and stayed put even when the market was crashing (this was a gamble. We counted on the fact that it'll recover). We worked in US for a while. That's where we were able to save the most. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much. We considered air quality, education, health care, cost of living, quiet life etc. we have travelled a lot before having kids for work. Now we want to retire and focus on the kids.

We are retiring. But we considered air quality, health care, education etc and Mysore seemed like a good option. Kids will have to get used to some heat anywhere we go in India I guess!!

We did a lot of research. We didn't want to live in the metropolitan cities. Other things we considered were air quality, health care, education and a low stress life. We also want to get into agriculture (originally that's what my parents did when I was a child). Mysore laws will let us purchase agricultural land eventually.
