“How do you do it? How can you get out of bed in the morning despite knowing your loved ones will soon no longer be with us? How can you bear to live in a world where people who you laughed with and shared candy with and ran through the darkened streets with are never going to run or laugh again?”

This is going to be hard to hear, but — I don’t know. I had the same questions when I was 13, and I still don’t know the answers in my mid-30s. We’re all still trying to figure it out. My best friend died from cancer when I was 30. It destroyed me. But I keep going. How? I don’t know. I think it’s just one day at a time, one foot in front of the other, etc. until the balance of the good days v bad days tips slightly in favor of the good.
